  • aren't most phones that are on a plan free(beside new models phones)
and i won't really consider $19 per month free

Agreed. There are better deals to be had

        links?

No. I signed up to this site just to say this: You are completely wrong. This is by a huge margin the best smartphone deal in Australia. Virgin must be losing money on it. Stocks are very low.
I got this plan a few months ago, didn't think to post it here.

        • yea its been out for a while now.

  • I dont know i have been waiting for a good phone on a $19 cap found this one

    • You can go with this one. I found this to be better in the long run I think.

      • Compare the specs between any of those and the Wave. The Wave comes out way on top.

        • Nokia E75. Specs may not be as great, but it has a far more mature OS.

You're comparing a phone with a 369mhz CPU and 2.4" screen, to the Wave with a 1ghz processor and 3.3" screen. If you want to choose a terrible phone over something with equivalent specs to an iPhone just because the terrible phone has Symbian, then that's your choice.

        • Wave may have better specs but bada is too young and has limited support. Given the fact that smart-phones have become more about the availability of Apps and less about hardware, I would go with E75.

IF by any chance you can load Android onto this(even 1.6) Wave will dominate this price-point :)

Guys, ive already got this phone on this same plan, and it is probably the best phone you can get for that price. It has really great hardware, as good as iphone 4.

It has loud earpiece for calls, good reception, its fast to use, and has app store.

However, it uses Bada OS which is fairly unpopular. The main problem i have with this phone is the battery life, which lasts under 2 days. Other than that, it is truly a great phone, and seems too good for the price.

    • I have the same phone on this plan, and I would say it is good value on a $30 plan. If you want this deal you'd better be quick as stock is very low, as it's replacement is due very soon, which is basically the same but with a larger but inferior screen, and will be priced higher. As for value no other carrier has a deal close to this on this model, which has received great reviews across the web, the only neg is the OS is very new, but developer support is really starting to grow, and within the next 6-12 months will be pretty solid, as this phone has been a big seller in Europe and Asia.

This phone is overshadowed by samsung galaxy s.
Bada OS still on early stage, but if you looking for a touch smartphone without too many blings - this is it!

      • Galaxy S is Android, which is great, but it also costs about twice as much. Other than the OS, the specs are similar between the two phones.

  • Thats not bad but i think this phone had some better specs

    • The Wave has LED flash for camera, Galaxy S does not.

  • I hear the route66 GPS maps aren't the best. Is there an alternative GPS app with turn to turn voice directions for the wave?

  • Can you move up and down the plans free of charge during the contract period?

    http://www.virginmobile.com.au/Shop/ProductDetails/7770/Sams…

For example, if I start on the $19 easy cap but want to change to the $29 smart cap later on..?

    • Moving up is usually free, moving down involves paying some $$.

    • i have doubts virgin doesn't want to take your extra $10 every month…

    • Some people are giving the $19 sims to other people and using the Wave on a cheap plan such as the TPG Pay As You Go plan (Waves on Virgin are unlocked, from what I've read in Whirlpool). That may work out cheaper.

It's like you buy the phone outright for $399 which is not bargain!

        • I think he means they onsell the sim for a cheaper price maybe or something?

        • Yes, it is. I heard of one guy getting a Wave for $320 on Ebay, which would be an even better deal, but Waves tend to sell for at least $450 outright. Even $450 is a bargain as to find a phone with similar specs you have to jump up to something like a $700+ HTC Android phone. I don't understand why people are so hesitant to acknowledge that this is actually a really great deal, the best mobile phone deal in Australia at the moment.

  • Can i get Android apps for this phone or am i stuck with the Samsung ones?

    • am i stuck with the Samsung ones?

The Samsung Wave uses an operating system called Bada, which has it's own application ecosystem like Android and IOS.

      The app store is here:

You can only use Bada apps. Bada is a new operating system that may soon be used by other mobile phone companies. The app store is constantly growing but is much smaller than the Android and iOS app stores. If a variety of apps are important to you, then that could be a large downside to this phone.
There is a project going on to port Android to the Wave, though they have not found success yet.

  • Hey so i got the phone today i have to say it was a very good bargain and a sexy phone :]
