whoops :)
Woolworth was selling this at $35 sometime back, and I had purchased this then
I bought this for $24.98 in October 2017.
Now looks like a good time to sell back out.
Same here. Very happy with the quality of the set, no chips or breakages after over a year of daily moderate use
I’ve got Corelle stufff that is more than 30 years old. I love it because it is light and tough. It is worth going to the DFO outlet places and getting the noodle bowls.
Yes, totally agree. Also worth checking out Woolworths and Big W for intermittent sales
I got this last year, already had some plates.
I like them, they seldom break, they are thin and light.
The cups are just cups.Always wondered why they didn't use the same material to make the stupid cups? The cups are stoneware & chip in the first week! WTH?
The cups used to be the same material 10+ years ago. Wonder why they changed?
Cause the cups are now made in China. The Plates and Bowls are still made in USA.
I agree, I hate the cups. Wish it had been the same material. I remember when they used to be made that way.
The cups use to be made in USA awhile back. Not they are just normal cups made in China.
These are virtually unbreakable. Having said that would never pay more than $20/set
Interesting, my little just broke one yesterday. The missus said he wasn't chuck it down hard or anything like that (which is very gentle of him). Now Im starting to have a second thought about these
Could be a fault in it. I would assume if it’s got an air bubble in it (manufacturing fault) it could be more susceptible to breakage like porcelain is. Another thing is I don’t believe I microwaved any of these when I had them if that’s of any consequence?
Nope he was using that plate to put cat food on it
I've had one randomly split in half sitting on the countertop (was in another room when I heard an almighty 'WTF was that' crack noise). When I looked into why, I encountered a number of stories of them randomly 'exploding' and leaving shards over a wide area.
So while they're incredibly resistant to breakage, if it does happen, it can be pretty nasty.
Never had one do that to me, must’ve had some sort of fault. I do know arcoroc cups go off like a grenade if dropped and the glass goes everywhere. We have had a couple break but they had a heavy cup dropped on them from a height.
Yes I had one randomly break this week. It was just sitting on the bench not doing anything, not near a heat source or anything and the base of the bowl came off, a line crack across the side of the bowl and some small chips flew off.
I've used Corelle for over 20 years, this bowl that broke was probably 2-3 years old. I spoke to Corelle customer service and they are replacing my bowl.
Have massive love-hate relationship with Corelle stuff. They are good right up until they break, when they do they explode into a thousand razor sharp shards. Trying to to get every single piece is a pain.
Won't buy it again, regular ceramic may break more often, but at least its only into several larger pieces.
@happyblah
Had exactly the same problem with a Corelle bowl (used in microwave)… placed on bench to cool a little and 20/30 seconds later whammo.
Kitchen covered in dangerous shards everywhere.Very wary now.
This could be due to Thermal Shock, if the bowl came out of the fridge and straight into the microwave.
Not fit for purpose ;)
does it says microwavable anywhere ?
@phunkydude
Outside of box in above pic ;)
hmmm, much cheaper @ Target $34.99! https://www.target.com/p/corelle-livingware-winter-frost-vit…
