  • is this a usb?

    • Yes. You can plug this U disk into a PC USB port.

For what it is worth, I have used this type of USB (not the BMW one), and found it very frustrating. As it doesn't have the rigidity of the metal casing surrounding the normal USB plug, the 'tongue' tends to jam, break off, or fail to store back in it's original position after a few uses. Also tends to be take up space if you are using it on a laptop, meaning you can't use the ports next to it.

As with the wireless charger in a different post, this is probably a good price for 4GB, but a poorly designed product.

where's the smallest tiny piece of USB one can buy then?

If you care to look at the pictures, this USB drive is actually different to the one you seem to be relating about.
The small connector is actually removable, meaning the rest of the card isn't hanging of the side of the drive when plugged in, so it doesn't actually block other USB ports. Also, if you handle it with care, the connector end (tongue) generally won't snap off.

Other than that, I do like the idea of keeping a USB in my wallet, except that these "cards" tend to be 2-3 time the width of a normal CC, making it quite tight when putting them in and out.

      • "so it doesn’t actually block other USB ports."
Yes, you can put out the U disk from card.

"tend to be 2-3 time the width of a normal "
        Card Size (L x W x T): 85 x 52 x 2 mm

  • Pretty good. I like the American Express one though. Might get it, but it seems there from overseas. hmm..

    • it's focalprice/dealxtreme clone

I've bought from these guys a few times on ebay, always been a straightforward transaction, I would definitely buy from them again if they have what I want at a reasonable price! :)

  • Read/write speeds on that one?

    How about on this one?

    • -2

Theoretically, USB2.0 transfer speed is up to 480Mbps

      • Right. And theoretically I could be the richest man on Earth.

But copying largish 100MB+ files, what are the practical read/write speeds?

  • If you keep this in your wallet, pressing close to other credit cards, won't the mag stripes from other conventional cards affect it?

    • +1

Nah, the field they generate is miniscule, making a 10 year old fridge magnet look like a powerful monster magnet by comparison.

Flash data doesn't use magnetism to store anything, except at the atomic level. A magnetic field powerful enough to disturb them would 1) have to be oscillating and 2) have to be about a billion times stronger than a credit card. Possibly more.
