Is Selling Scanned Copies of Tuition Booklets Illegal?

So basically, I used to do a tuition where I payed for classes as well as a booklet that I got to keep. These booklets had the name of the tuition company on it. In the booklet, it doesnt mention anything about selling the booklets on again. Being the cash-hungry student I am, would selling scanned copies of these booklets be illegal or not? I can't find anything on their website about it either.

Thats untrue, murder isnt legal, its always been illegal. Theres a difference between being free and being legal.

  • Voted not sure to balance out the 1 legal and 1 illegal vote

I am no lawyer, but I would expect that you are free to re-sell the book itself, but not scans of the content contained in the book, which I assume is proprietary to the tuition company.

    Could be wrong though

Lol why do you think they made sure to print their name on it?

    If you have to ask….

  • The only person who forgives is god, bible scanning is OK.

      I know you were kidding…but

Actually most of those are copyrighted too these days…there is nothing that people can't prostitute for their own gain. :)

    • Except for over a thousand years having a bible was a first class ticket to being burnt or tortured.

I'm going to guess that the course you did was not on Copyright Law.

    Pirate—bay?

    Illegal copy = illegal download

Don't wanna get caught? Photoshop the tuition company's name, change it to "Daaaaas Tuition". Prob solved.

What was the course? Is the content very specific to a particular skill/topic? There may not be copyright info in the book as perhaps they copied /stole the content originallly.

    • +5

guessing it wasn't a course on ethics.

How about you use that education to do something productive and earn money instead of scabbing and stealing off someone’s else?

Have you checked with your local bikies?

Could have been a class on motorcycle maintenance…

Would it be ok if I took your work and used them for my own profit without asking you?

  • +1

You can do whatever you like.

But put aside all the proceeds of those sales (and much more) towards the cost of legal fees for when you get sued!

  • +3

    Seriously?

Taking their work, and making money out of it yourself?

I don't know man, better ask the tutor to see if they're okay with it instead of us…

On a side note, I think it would be educationally beneficial for you to watch this video

    So many troll posts nowdays.

    • Pretty much, all one post hero’s

    • The large number of troll posts means that we all agree that it's a stupid question.

And you know what happens when you ask stupid questions - you get stupid answers!

My local bank doesn't have a sign on it saying don't steal so a heist would be legal right?

  • +1

The legality discussion would start with whether the company in question has actually claimed copyright on their booklet. If they have not, the OP is just selling public domain text.

    • Copyright is automatic.

No need to state it, unlike public domain.

    Illegal.

Its like if you bought a blue ray and then copied the blue ray and sold them.

    Its, Illegal.

  • When I was in Primary school, I used to sell those mini snack pack smith chips for 50c each. Told my mum, and she spanked the shit outta me lol.

    OP: Yes it's illegal.
