Originally used Pack & Send when I did my initial move from Brisbane to Sydney - and I remember it costing an arm and leg just to send 3 boxes worth of stuff, roughly 60kg. (clothes, shoes, sporting equipment, books, computer, etc.)
Now looking to move back to Brisbane and was hoping to find some alternatives that are potentially cheaper?

If everything is all boxed up, you can probably ship if by road freight, try smartsend which are brokers for various shipping companies.

On Airtasker there are often people who do regular trips between cities and take on extra cargo for money on the side. Just consider one with good reviews.
How are you getting there yourself? If you are not taking a vehicle have you considered doing a Camper van or even car relocation?
There was a deal about cheap one way/re-location rentals?
Alternatively If you have a car that can fit everything, I’d be driving back.
I'm fitting the heavier stuff in the car and getting it transported back.
How much is that costing you? It really would only cost you about $120 of fuel and 1 day of your time. If you installed roof racks you could do it all in 1 trip with the added increase in fuel and the cost of racks (if you cannot borrow any). You would probably save that day by not having to hang around waiting for your parcels .Also do not pack your car with boxes just jam your items into the footwells surrounded by clothes and work your way up.you may even avoid racks this way.Also if you are going to have your car transported can it have racks on for the same price?
If you can make the boxes smaller, you can send 10kg for around $22 with officeworks. So I guess $132 for 6 boxes?
Also, I flew qantas when I moved to WA and checked in 40kg or so which worked out pretty convenient.
