$15 off First Ride with Taxify

1480
HIAUSTRALIA

Received email, oddly after taking a Taxify trip so I can't even use it… But I'm sure you lot can.

My driver this morning also told me that the 50% Melbourne discount would apply for two more weeks and that he thought it would drop to 25% afterwards as they apparently did in Sydney.

Email below -

Hey XXXXX, I have a free Taxify ride for you.

Apply promo code "HIAUSTRALIA" and you will get $15 off your first ride! Handy for the upcoming weekend…

How to use my free ride promo code?

Here are basic steps:

Add credit/debit card as Taxify payment option;
Apply promo code.
Order a ride to your location when you need one ;)
Why do I need to enter my card details?

We have a few reasons for this:

This way we prevent multiple code uses per person;

    Hi!!!!

  • +1

    I used Taxify in Budapest

    • -2

Me 2 I was the driver

      • +1

        Woohooooo!

        • -1

Is that where they make p@rn in the back seat of taxy?

  • Only two drivers in the whole of Melbourne cbd midday Saturday..

    • Had the same issue trying to use Taxify in the Sydney CBD, both day and night. Would love to stop using Uber but they simply don't have the drivers.

Still maybe someone will get lucky…

      • +2

Yep, happened in Sydney too. First few weeks no drivers in area. Then when I signed up to drive couple weeks after I could see dozens of drivers everywhere I drove. It well definately improve in next few weeks once drivers get on board (which they will with drivers incentives and less commissions to pay to company)

      • +1

Really? I’ve been using taxify quite a bit lately and there are heaps drivers around (at least cbd and eastern suburbs). I’ve seen heaps drivers displaying both uber and taxify on their rear window

  • +1

This is actually pretty good in Sydney now. Have been using it while they had the 25% discount running. Same ride with uber is like 30% more or so.

Was dead when it first launched, no drivers at all. But now like 1 month later there's no trouble. Most seem to be Uber drivers looking for a way to branch out when there's too many uber drivers on the streets.

  • Expiry?

  • Could you explain the 50% on Melbourne? I will be on Holiday in the city for a week and it would be great for my wallet!

    • +1

They just launched there so half price fares are automatic.. this code stacks with that discount. I took one from Sydney CBD to the airport (normally costing ~$25) and it cost me $7.

      • Is Sydney currently 50 per cent off? How to do it

        • No, only 25% off.

  • +1

    Working in melbourne airport??

  • How are the numbers looking tonight in Melbourne? City and the shoulder burbs?

    • Two close to me in the burbs 20km east

  • thanks OP

Took my first ride the other day. Superb car and really nice driver. I'll be using them again. The only annoying thing is that once you've confirmed the taxi your gps disappears and it only tracks the taxis gps.

  • Does it work in Perth?

  • Cheers
Drove to melb today from adelaide
Took a taxify for free just then and now 50% off on way back
    Winning

    • +1

You took a Taxify from Melbourne to Adelaide?

      • +3

        Lol nah
Drove here to pickup a jetski
Daughter wanted to goto luna park and had enuf of driving the truck around 9hrs today so free taxify worked well

  • Thanks. OP.

Had a good experience with Taxify yesterday. Friendly driver and nice car. He seemed far more enthusiastic about Taxify than Uber to me. I personally dislike Uber’s business practices so I’ll be supporting Taxify all the way.

    • Many Uber drivers are also making themselves available on Taxify, so yeah… the death of Uber is not here yet.

  • +1

Taxify is great. I lots of Uber drivers are running both platforms but they get 10% more…

    • +1

My driver yesterday was doing both, yeah, apparently an Indian competitor Ola is also looking at starting in Australia as well, so even more competition.

      • Ola is awesome and has pushed down Uber prices in India!

        • +1

Also Ola is only charging 7.5% commission from drivers plus daily payments to drivers instead of weekly, so i guess drivers prefer to take more jobs from Ola

  • +1

I have not had an issue getting cars. In Melb or Sydney

Email from taxify 5 hours ago - $20 off first ride with code AUD20

    • +1

Thanks! Both codes were accepted and you can choose which to use for which ride.

      • Good to know we have the choice!

      • +1

Well they both expire after your first ride anyway

        • have you already tried those? Thanks

      • Both say "valid for first ride only"

  • In Bali, for the past 2yrs it's GoJek (cars & motorbikes) and GrabCar (they have apps). Works seamlessly. Have used them personally. Giving the taxi consortium a really good run for its money.
    Eg $8 instead of 20
    40c instead of $3

    • +1

Agreed, just got back from Bali and gojek and uber (and bluebird cabs) were all I would take.

But the taxi thugs are pretty full on, meeting ubers feels like a spy movie sometimes.

Taxi hustlers on every street were actually the worst thing about Bali…

      • I agree. Taxi (& transport hustlers generally) are a major PITA.
Some places Gojek & Grab don't/can't operate.. they've been bullied out.
Eg there's none in PadangBai or Candidasa.

  • Taxify, you have to accept PayPal/Android Pay for payments.

  • +4

To all who is wondering how good it is…I waited 5 minutes to get a taxify from Crown Casino at 3.00 am Sat and cost me $16 for a trip usually will cost me $40-$50
    So my experience was great.

    • 3am at Glen Waverley this morning, not a single taxify.

      Had to use Uber… :(

  • +1

It's good to see a company going all out to be a viable competitor with Uber.

Uber's current 27.5% is ludicrous and it's good to see Taxify charging 15% on their driver's.

  • +1

LOL, I was thinking who the hell in 'straya doing their tax in Feb, turned out it's for Taxi…

  • Any drivers in Brisbane yet? Have spent 1k in the last year on Ubers so I'm keen to see more competition.

  • +1

Anyone had an issue with foreign transaction charges?

    • No additional forex charges on either of my rides so far.

      • +1

I take that back, now that the transaction has cleared there is a foreign transaction fee added as well. Taxify need to sort this out.

Taxify 18.02.04 0000 Tallinn INCL OVERSEAS TXN FEE 0.73 AUD

        • +1

Yes, they do need to sort it out (i.e., start processing payments locally).

That said, it's hardly Taxify's fault that most Aussie banks gouge their customers on transactions processed overseas, even if the currency's AUD. There is simply no valid justification for these charges.

In the meantime, it's best to use a card (e.g. Citibank Plus) with no overseas transaction fees.

        • @atotheb: Yeah, I contacted their support to suggest the same. Using Citibank Plus is an acceptable workaround.

  • +1

My first ride on Taxify was free, it was 50% off and $5 off the first ride, and its still cheaper than Uber (for now) absolutely love it.

  • +1

I believe the referral has gone up to $10 to referer and referee. In my experience, it was the same drivers as Uber who generally run both apps but will take rides on Taxify if available. Long may it continue.

    • Nope. Still says $5 on my app.

      • Check emails you get from Taxify.

    • can you use promo code and referral code together?
