Take 15% off Kikka Parcel Boxes ($186.95) - Letter & Parcel Home Delivery Solution @ GreatGrab

I just bought one of these boxes to install by the front door, so the mailman can safely drop parcels in the future. I'm lucky to live in an area where the guy is really nice and I've never once had a parcel lost or stolen, even when they were left at our front door or inside the little letterbox we had by the pavement (and we don't have a fence). I also let both the parcel mailman and bike postie know to drop SafeDrop and Registered parcels where they deem possible, otherwise they can continue to leave cards for me to collect at local Auspost on the weekend.

When I was looking these up, this has a reasonable price and accommodates both A4 letters and parcels (unlike Bunnings Pakman boxes where it's an add-on component, though Pakman ones look better). It opens on top and has a one-way chute. Comes with 2 keys and access door is in front so the box can be installed flush against the wall.

I bought on eBay and when it arrived there is a 15% discount code to buy anything on their website https://greatgrab.com.au In my test trying to check-out the same box the shipping says "flat rate" so it may be included. I'm also not sure if it is a single-use code or not, but it says "valid for 14 days" (from 31st Jan, the date this box is delivered to me). Just thought this would help a fellow Ozber looking for a safe parcel home delivery solution.

There are (2) colours to choose from. Here are the eBay links which makes viewing the product photos much easier (their website is cr*p):

Awesome idea, but AusPost tend to card everything in my estate, without attempting delivery. So I've resorted to an AusPost Parcel locker.

    • +2

I've considered that. I think AusPost Parcel Locker gives you up to 2 days to collect? The guy in my area is nice enough to ring every time. But my address is probably within the top 5 in my suburb based on the volume of parcels he has had to deliver.

Postie here. Technically we're not supposed to to leave the bike at all and never out of eye sight. With the amount of parcels we get these days I try drop box everything I can or it turns into a real long day.

      • My local postie sometimes ring our bell if there are Registered small parcels. Really nice guy.

Just order 2 days ago from Amazon, the milkcan mail box - https://www.milkcan.com.au/outdoor-products/parcel-letterbox…

I did like the price of the Kikka, but felt more confitdent with the milkcan box

    • I saw that one on eBay, for sale at $300+. How much did you buy from Amazon?

      • +1

        295+(30 postage) not cheap :(

Could not wait for any deals, our house is been handed over on the 9th :)

        • I'm sure its quality is worth the premium price.

  • +1

it looks like a rubbish bin…..

  • +1

$187 because couriers wont bother knocking on the door.

  • I move into a new house in a month and currently in the market for a letter box, although sceptical at how many delivery companies would actually use this to drop parcels etc.

    • No, it's not for parcels that are Registered and require signature on delivery - they still have have to carded at Auspost if no one's home.

It's for parcels that can be left at the premise and this is a solution for that.

      • +1

I think you can also change that status on Auspost website. You can remove the having to sign, to, just deliver. May/maynot work for all deliveries but Austpost website does offer variables that are worth checking out, sometimes we need to change things a bit.

I was more referring to the fact of this letter box in particular not being overly obvious that you can deposit parcels in it.

        • +1

It does say 'Parcels' on the lip of the lid, and it is a big box one is supposed to install at a conspicuous location. I'm sure people who do deliveries as a job know when they see one.

          @sky blu:

It does say 'Parcels' on the lip of the lid

I didn't see that when I initially looked on my phone earlier, thanks for pointing it out.

      • Most you can now accept to leave them in letterbox online

        • Well if the parcel is big enough, the postie would refuse to leave in the letterbox, just think of this product as a much bigger letterbox :) for those odd items you bought through ozbargain.

As a motorcycle postie I love these, good job OP. Remember to put your house number on it!

    • I will when I find some cheap deals on house number. The box is being installed in front of entrance door. I thought of replacing our current letterbox (by the pavement) but our with current foliage and landscape that would be inconvenient.

      • +1

Ah if its being installed obviously on your property then I would not bother with house numbers, Just if you are replacing your letterbox with it. The amount of places that do not have house numbers anywhere is surprisingly high.

        • Oh yeah, I noticed that too. Idk why people just don't care. My house I had 2 plaques - white house numbers on blue acrylic plastic pieces. One on the side of the letter box and the other on the other side of driveway. Then gold house number stickers on the back of the bins.

Couple with blue and orange LED on the ground I'd say my house is pretty unique in the area lol

        • I put a nice big ass stainless steel number on mine :)

  • I use a toolbox that has a twist to lock clasp. Good for couriers. The only drawback is it can only be used once then its locked.

  • Looks perfect for those breakable packages, just a short drop and sudden stop

    • +1

The website does recommend putting foam pads on the bottom to prevent such damage. Thanks for reminding me.

  • Sounds OK

    • Looks OK too.

  • +1

I have the same thing. The opening is to small. Need bigger design. Soooo many times I come home with my packages on top (Even the smaller ones) Delivery guys taking the piss Im sure. Wonder how many are missing from the kids from school walking past..

    • Sometimes there are little extra things you can do in life which can be good 'karma'. A token of appreciation can be a good gesture to thank the delivery guy(s), and you may find all your parcels being delivered in good order. Sometimes all it takes is just good communication too.

My first job as a CSR, I was young (still young now lol) and used to leave little thank-you notes, sometimes chocolate bars/ lollies for the cleaners because I'm kinda a clean freak at home so I like my workstation clean. Long story short, when an opportunity came, I stepped up to a role that enabled me to having my own room. Before I moved, I asked the cleaners if they'd do my new my area, they said it isn't in the contract but for me, they'd take care of the rubbish and a weekly vacuum. And the kicker is, my manager's room was next door and he didn't get the same treatment.

      • Bit hard to give a thank you for leaving your items on top of the box. The last one left on top was a Note 8. Lucky I got it before school come out.
I've had 10 plus left out side. Reported 2. Does nothing.
It's a common thing with other people too.

        • Sorry to hear that. Maybe try leaving a note asking if they could please put the parcels inside the box?

  • Wouldn't this look weird on your house?

  • +1

LOL I'm currently using this for my house :)

    • Nice. How long have you been using the box and how has it been serving you so far?

      • +1

Been using it since moving to a new place, 4 months now and it's great.

        • Good to hear. I'm going to install my tomorrow. Where did you put yours?

        • @sky blu: Like any other house, in front of the property lol :)

        • @ntb: lol d'oh. I'm gonna install my right in front of the front door.

  • I'm currently renting, but if I could install a parcel locker/mailbox, it'd be a Receva (once it's released).

That product isn't aimed at private residential properties.

      • @sky_blu:

Where do you see that? According to the website it is, and is effectively a 'smart' version of what you're getting. It's developed by AusPost.

    • +2

      Hope it goes well :)

    • I what to know how the auto sign works, the video on their site does not give any details.

      • @spriggan43

Me too, so many questions — so little answers. However, the premise of a 'smart' mailbox is great.

It's supposedly set to be released in June, so we'll see how it goes.

    • $27 mth. Wtf

      • @australiabpo:

That's if you want to do installments over 24 months (with a Receva subscription tacked on for that period). Otherwise, it's $299-$499 upfront, depending on the model, and then a $5 monthly Receva subscription.

        • Gotcha, wasn't aware it is 24 mths. Still $524 (subscription deducted) is a bit of a ouch. Still looks small though. Is it bigger than the one above.

    • +3

I've been testing a Receva parcel box at my home for Australia Post for the past 6 months. The parcel contractor has a fob that opens the door to put the parcels securely inside, then I receive a text message from Receva that a parcel has been delivered. Parcels requiring signatures can be delivered into the Receva boxes as the contractor has a code to sign on my behalf. The posties have a fob to also open the Receva box for letters or small parcels requiring a signature.

Receva boxes by Australia Post will start operating soon. There is a monthly subscription fee (it is connected to the 3G mobile network) plus a cost to purchase outright, alternatively there is a 24 month payment plan including monthly subscription fee.

Receva have also recently announced parcel boxes in an alternative wall mounted design for apartment buildings.

I'll try to post a deal for Receva once they get their act together!

      • How's the service going? Are the contractors fully across it?

        • +1

At the moment it's only Australia Post but the plan is to offer the service to other courier services that have had security checks (for a fee, Aust Post has to make money from them). The Receva boxes are app driven so the customer will also be able to enable or block particular courier companies, also set hours when the couriers can access the boxes, provide one-off guest access if you are away, or turn off the Receva completely for whatever reason.
