Seagate 2TB Backup Plus Slim $80.95 + Shipping @ Warehouse1

690

I was looking for a portable 2TB hard drive for my PS4 and noticed that Warehouse1 is selling the silver version of the Seagate Backup Plus Slim for $80.95.

Took this to Officeworks and they pricematched for $76.90 - Silver only. Pricematch works only in VIC as Warehouse1 only have a store in the Docklands VIC.

Those wanting to ship Aus wide it's 16.95 from Warehouse1.

Good drive for PS4 according to lots of reviews, or for general use. USB 3.0.

    Woah $16.95 for delivery

    • +3

      deal = killed

  • How does this compare to the 4TB Seagate and WD drives available on Amazon for under US$100?

    • +16

      Links, pls!

      For now:

Compared to a 4TB Seagate drive, this one is only 2TB.
Compared to a WD drive, this one is of different brand.

    • Thickness - 7.5mm vs 15mm

      • according to the dimensions here (bottom), it's apparently 12.1mm (slim) vs 20.35 / 22.35 (portable / fast) : )

        • As in the drive inside the case 7.5mm z-height drive vs 15mm z-height drive.

        • @systema: oh right! i was wondering if someone had produced such a skinny external drive.

    • It's thinner and sleeker.

I have heard bad reviews from people buying from Warehouse1's website and never receiving their items. Seems to be fine if you buy off their eBay shop.

    • +1

havent heard that, but given they have a physical store those in Vic might feel more secure… or at least go to OW like I did.

    • Live in Metro Sydney. Received mine and properly packed in a box and bubble wrap.

Got it within a week of ordering. So far so good for me.

Ordered the 2 X 4tb 3.5 inch HDD from the previous ebay deal and received the goods yesterday. Nicely wrapped/padded and working. No issues here. Looks like they listened to the complaints and added more protection.

I have had bad experience with this seller. Please read some reviews before deal with them: https://www.productreview.com.au/p/warehouse1.html

  • I have 6 of these Seagate 2TB Backup Plus (and 1 4TB) and so far they have been really good.

I was a fan of Western Digital Elements and Passport before but they look far better than the latest Western Digital elements HD which look like they are made of cheap plastic.

They come with some software on the hard drive already which allows it to be read/write on both Mac and Windows while the drive is still actually NTFS.

However if you do a hard format, the drive won't be able to be written on by Mac anymore.

    • Paragon NTFS driver for mac is a good solution. Or just use exFAT

      • Yeah I need to try add that back onto the drives I've done a full format.

Does exFAT allow for large (>4gb files)? That was my problem with FAT32, it worked for Windows and Mac but only 4gb files.

Now I just keep everything on NTFS drives, otherwise the Mac format doesn't work on Windows which is hugely annoying.

        • yep that's the beauty of exFAT - mac/pc compatible (and ps4 also requires exFAT i believe) with the added benefit of >4gb files.

        • @bohdud: thanks!

Slowly coming down. Was $200 in 2015

    • +2

Nah thats when i bought my 2tb. It was alwasy around $120ish at MSY

Utter garbage of a drive. We are seeing a failure rate around 80%! If you care about your data, pass.

    • +2

how so. I've only read good reviews

    • Good one!

  • Are these good / good enough for Mac laptops?

  • Still waiting on my order from 3 weeks ago from their eBay site. Supposedly Auspost's fault, however, there are no scans on the tracking from Auspost, so they say they never received it. Should have checked the online reviews first.

Be careful of this store, they have some of the worst reviews and customer service out there.

I went to OW on Elizabeth street in Melbourne CBD this morning and got knocked back saying this drive isn't the SLIM drive according to Warehouse1 website because the description doesn't include the word SLIM. I didn't get time to load up websites and contest because I had to go work. Just wanted to highlight this so ANYONE encountering a knock back about the drive description not being EXACTLY the same as the product, just show them the official Seagate site:

    https://www.seagate.com/au/en/consumer/backup/backup-plus/?c…

2TB only comes in SLIM anyway is the main point to make if you get contested. I'll be going back later today during my break to buy it.

Just go by the part number (which by the way is for the Silver) - both stores have the same Seagate part number

      • exactly

        • Got it. Got another guy who was a pain and just took forever but eventually did the price match. Avoid OW on Elizabeth st in Melbourne CBD…

  • +1

Don't bother with these guys. They put the drives in a layer of bubble wrap inside a plastic satchel and expect it to be in one piece by the time it arrives. Most likely will be damaged when it arrives.

Cheers OP, just price matched at Melb Central JB

Got one. Price matched at Werribee Officeworks. Thanks OP.

  • i tried to price match withh office works bundoora for the Seagate 5tb drive and they wouldn't allow me to get a further 5% off since ebay got 5%off at the moment. I said in a loud voice I'd rather buy from them since their original price is more than $60 more expensive than warehouse1. office works price beat fail…..the customer service dude said I would pay the same price. facepalm…..for 5% price beat.
