RadioGearPro (found 'em on eBay, but they charge more there)
is one of the "bright stars" of HK's many Ham Radio suppliers
Good order status reporting, fast (& free) shipping, etc.

In AU, the Yaesu FT-60R can cost Au$299 PLUS shipping, eg:

http://strictlyham.com.au/yaesu/handheld/ft-60r

This radio is both a 2-way (for licensed Radio Amateurs) AND
wide-band receiver with scanning functions.

For info on becoming a Radio Amateur, cf:

http://www.wia.org.au/licenses/foundation/about/

Eg, use it to listen to your local CFS / CFA fireground talk
(in the unlikely event you're so near to a bush fire), etc.
Note: It does NOT receive SA GRN or other trunked radio systems.

For frequencies of licensed transmitters, in your postcode area, cf:

http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/assignment_range.range_sea…

(The radio's spec's are BOTH at RadioGearPro's page, see above,
AND at the page at StrictlyHam's - just above.)

Payment can be via PayPal or Credit Card; eMails on order status
follows payment (eg, within 30 min's & on next day in my exper.)

This vendor also has other low-cost Yaesu & Vertex Standard
radios, as well as lower-end Chinese brands, eg, Wouxen, etc.

I haven't bought much from them, but - each time (so far) -
I've had low prices + good experiences from RadioGearPro.

Of course, YMMV ;-)

PS I'd be interested in names of similar low-price HK radio
vendors (eg, in your comments, below), thanks.

      Thanks for that.

I've actually got a 2nd reason for this submission: To promote Ham Radio.

So, I've used CAP's for HAM RADIO, in the title & relagated the price to the first line or 2 (which is visible, I think, in the listing.

I don't know how many know the brand or model number (& those that do can see the price in the article), but I want more to know about the Hobby. ;-)

Doesn't bother me whether you promote ham radio or not, if it's a bargain, it's a bargain, which this is not. It's just the standard price.
Visible or not in the description, part of the posting guidelines is to put price in title.

        • +1 (Only commenting so I can neg :-P)

To someone who buys Aussie, I think
          RadioGearPro's price is a bargain,
whether you buy via eBay or directly.

I've made the price visible, to please
the more pedantic members in our circle.

However, by me, Guidelines are guidelines, not gospel. ;-)

    • Let's be fair:

Add shipping… many HK vendors show low prices, but more than make up for it in shipping…

      US$35 in one you've listed.

eBay now lets folks comment on the reasonableness (or otherwise) of their vendor shipping prices.

While the total may be about the same as this vendor's price, I just like prices to be (most of) the whole story.

      My bias… ;-)

Actually I wish I could find this or a similar item on PayPal's Xmas list (ie, the one where they give you $100 for buying 3 $100+ items, from their list) ;-)

      • Overall the links I posted are cheaper including shipping. Some places charge excessive shipping but the total price still ends up being cheaper.

  • Norton stopped me for entering this site. here is the report.
    http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http:%2F%2Fwww.rad…

    • My first reaction was: That's your loss, friend. ;-)

A more serious response is: What is downloaded, what's the risk & how to remove it?

  • no price in title, and is more of an advertisement than a bargain

I have been a ham for over 25 years and its crap posted like this that gives the hobby a bad name.
This is not the forum for promoting Ham Radio it's for bargain hunters wanting good deals and specials.

If you realy want a bargain/cheap/value for money, for ham radio, scanning, general purpose listening in a hand held, then get something like this:
    http://www.radiogearpro.com/main/product_info.php?products_i…
    about AUD$100 shipped.
Its excellent value for what it does check the reviews.

Like with all gear bought from OS, Warranty is a PIA if fixing or repair is required.

sorry ppl, rant over, just my 2c

    • I think you're comparing apples & oranges (like Internode & TPG).

If you don't need Yaesu's sophisticated features, sure, a Chinese radio is fine.

I'd choose another make & model (eg, the one that includes UHF-CB transmit, so it covers "all the bases"), for about 10% more than the Quansheng you seem to be promoting here.

I own both Yaesu & Quansheng, and a unit of the 3rd brand (as well as another Yaesu) are on the way as we discuss these details, & destined for my Xmas stocking. :-)

I agree with your comment on warranty repairs of gear bought overseas.

PS: It should be said: I have NO pecuniary interest in RadioGearPro or Yaesu, for that matter.

I hope none of my vigorous critics are, themselves, vendors of Ham Radio gear… who might like to see any praise for their HK-based competitors moved "below the radar" ;-)
