Must be a personal taste thing - my wife and I both hated this particular coffee last time. Never again!

      • Yeah, it's quite fruity isn't it? Can't handle it with milk in the morning, but don't mind it black at lunchtime.

    • Yirgi, Yirgi, Yirgi.

any recommendation for cold drip coffee?

    • dont need especially good coffee for cold drip as its a very low acid extraction\process.

Saying that - I would think the darker roast Peru would be best suited.

      Cheers

        Done deal. Looking forward.

        • @mansunz, what do you use to make your cold brew? Would love to try making it at home.

        • @mikstylo:
Hi. I am using a brew over.

          http://www.brewover.com.au

Pretty good. I tend to do overnight brewing, the house smells like coffee by the morning. Which is no a bad thing lol.

  • Whats the go with these guys? Anyone recommend?

    • +11

Yes, excellent! Small batch , roasted to order, single origin and organic.
      Worth a crack! :)

Recommend. I got coffee from them in November and would be stocking up again if I hadn't just received a delivery from Manna.

      • same boat

        • Which one is better?

    • Tried Colombia and Ethiopia. Ethiopia is very acidic for my taste. It’s a very light roast. Colombia was ok, still Honduras and Peru left to try. Im an espresso drinker. However tried it with milk and found similar results.

I prefer killer coffee tastes. My two cents.

  • What is a good Blend for espresso….? i have grinder and espresso machine… ta

    • All great - these are all single origins not blends though:)
Depending on what flavour profile you are after. They all offer something unique.
      Try them all - 4 x 250g perhaps?

      cheers

      • Thanks, the Honduras has different tasting notes in this post and on your website.
is it still 'sweet malt and sweet cereal notes'? or is it more
"A syrupy heavy body gives way to a dark chocolate liqueur, spice and currant finish."

  • How long would the beans store for? I go through a 250g bag in a week and if I buy a kilo the last 250g bag would be 3-4 weeks old

    • +3

I put mine in the freezer.

      • +2

Not sure why someone down voted daryldee re freezzing. If you look at the science its actually beneficial for many reasons.
Ie beans fracture rather than smudge the finer particles

        Have a read https://strivefortone.com/2017/01/03/freeze-beans-not-peas/

        • +1

Yep, freezing is common to preserve green beans ans offer as a vintage coffee a few years down the track.
As roasted beans I would vaccum pack them after a couple of days degassing and then freeze.

          cheers

          TCC

    • A month or so if stored in pantry or somewhere cool and dark.
      Cheers

      TCC

    • Don't listen to the rubbish being posted here about a month in the cupboard.
Every bean is different. You might notice you enjoy the yigacheffe somewhere between 13 and 21 days, whereas the Peru you may enjoy 7-14 days.

You have to get to know your beans to know what you like.

Freezing science - completely agree. I vacuum beans and freeze them and they do still age but at a far slower rate.
Remember that means take on flavour close to them, so be mindful of what you freeze them in.

  • When is the order cutoff? Be a nice way to try 4x250g

    • Deal runs until Tuesday - cheers

  • Bought the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe during The December offer and cappuccino tastes average. Will the medium dark roast of Peru organic produce a stronger cappuccino. Thanks

    • Hi there - the Peru will deliver the more traditional coffee 'punch' - more chocolate rather than fruit vs Ethiopian

  • Hey Rep, are these espresso only? Noted some beans are best for light-medium roast…

Wanted to mix some filter and espresso, is it possible?

    • Hi there - all the coffees are good for all brew types - all offer something different.
250g of each is the best way to sample them all :)

      Cheers

      TCC

      • Thanks for your response, but I am a bit confused.

Should I specify the type of roast at the time of ordering because the beans can be roasted to suit any brew ?

        OR

Your final roasted coffee can be used in any brew?

        Thanks

        • Hi again - yep the roast levels are the ones in the desciptions and thats how I roast them.
They are all are good for any type of brew.

          Thanks

    Thanks OP; Ordered 4x 500g

Order placed :) I'm curious about your decaf, I haven't had any good ones yet so tend to stay away from them, but would love to enjoy another cuppa at night :). Has anyone else tried the decaf?

    • Thanks for that :)

My decaf has had good feedback - its a lighter roast so has some fruit and acidity .. as do all good ethiopian coffees.

      Cheers

      TCC

  • Any ones good for cold brew that don't taste fruity?

    • Hi there - I'd go for the Peru - darkest roast out of the 4 and hence lowest acidity.

      Cheers:)

    • That's great :)

    • Ozbargained!

  • Boo missed out.. no fair. Was really looking forward to trying the malty Honduras. Bring on the next P & R deal

  • +2

Bugger…I was hella busy at work today and couldn't monitor OB so I missed out. We've just run out of the decaf I bought prior to Christmas and we're looking for more. The Ethiopian Sidamo has a really different flavour profile to the Yirgi, I find it's less fruity and more malty so it's excellent with a bit of milk (I tend to like long shots with only a small amount of milk) and awesome as either a straight shot or in a long black. I'll be looking forward to your next deal!

And, to answer some earlier questions, TwoCracks is one of the best reps on OB. Always cheerful and helpful, service is amazing, and the product is simply fantastic - it would be a bargain even at the regular price.
