Singapore Return from Melbourne $503, Brisbane $556, Sydney $554, Adelaide $562 Via Emirates (April-November)

Emirates are offering cheap, direct flights to Singapore. All fares include bags, seats, and meals. Rated #4 best airline in the world. You'll also earn ~5,200 Skyward miles. Flights from April to November.

You can book through Skyscanner, Momondo etc for (e.g. Melbourne $503) or directly with Emirates using code AUPAY17 or AUAMX17 for slightly more (e.g Melbourne $529.22). Emirates have a price guarantee if you find a fare that is $20 USD cheaper (~$25 AUD) so keep that in mind. Also BYOJET has a $30 off code but I can't get it to work. If you contact them, you can potentially get to Singapore under $500.

OK, so there was a recent Scoot sale offering flights to Singapore including Melbourne for $288. However it's

$288
+ $122 for bags meals ($41 for bags or $61 with bags + meals x 2)
+ $24 for seat selection ($12 x 2)
+ $20 for Credit Card or Paypal processing
~—~
$464

So for $39 more you'll fly on Emirates. Or compare it with the recent Singapore Flights and this Emirates deal is ~$100 cheaper.

  • Extra 5% off emirates if you have entertainment card.

    • That's just a code right? Should be the same price as using AUPAY17 or AUAMX17.

Pretty much hot and muggy all year round. Shopping around Orchard, you can easily go between 6 air conditioned shopping malls without seeing daylight.

I'd go based on what was happening. So Singapore Gran Prix in September for example. I went in September before the Gran Prix and saw Comex which was a really good computer and electronic show.

@kaikor: id rather save more money to travel once internationally than 2-3 domestic

Did almost all of those last week, had a great time! Going there with Emirates were great, coming back on Qantas sucked.

I can only find Qantas operated flights and for flights from Sydney… It's via Melbourne :(. Don't think it's worth it after the terrible experiences I had with flying Qantas operated flights to and from Singapore.

    • +3

Similar experience for me - my last trip to SG was with Qantas from Melbourne, it was the worst flight I have been on in years. Poor service, terrible food, it was like flying in the 80’s. The return flight was with Emirates (on an A380!) and the difference was remarkable. Better in every way.

    • That's why I have 0 Qantas points

    • Depends when you are going , but some great deals on scoot

    • Aren't Emirates flights usually codeshare QF?

Where is Perth? Edit; Look like no deal for Perth atm

    • +4

      Where is Perth?

      It's near Australia isn't it?

    • +1

From Perth to Singapore better of with scoot (787) vs Qantas (very tiny 737)

  • +2

Reasonable deal. The Scoot comparison isn't fair though as none of those extras are compulsory (bar the small CC fee).

For those who travel light and appreciate not having to pay for (usually) sub-par food as part of the ticket it's a significantly better deal.

    • +1

May not be compulsory - but most international travellers have luggage and would eat a meal on a 10 hour flight.

Sure, if you want to travel light and not eat at all on the flight (though you'll have to eat somewhere and at some cost anyway) you can make some saving, but that doesn't make the comparison unfair.

      • +1

Meal on-board is maybe $20 and only have to pay if you're hungry. Few BYO snacks can do the trick.

If necessary to add for comparison OK - but the extra $200-250 (x2?) for luggage? Nope.

        • +1

I think it's a fair comparison to make both apple to apple. Whether you'll eat the whole apple or just 3/4 of it is another thing entirely

  • A quick question, I am just wondering where do we put the promo code in Emirates Web?

    • Put it in when you do a search. If you already have search results up, just hit change search, advanced search and then there is a promo code box.

  • +2

It's not actually Emirates. Emirates only do direct flights from Brisbane to Singapore..for Sydneysiders this will be Qantas.

    • I wish OP can add it to the post =/

      • +1
        • Melbourne-Singapore is on an Emirates A380 and is a direct flight.
        • Brisbane, also direct, looks like you can go with Qantas/Emirates or both on Emirates.
        • Sydney, is one stop in Melbourne in conjunction with Qantas.
        • Adelaide, same as above.

        I'll make some changes.

        • Emirates A380s are coming to Adelaide!
We’d better dust off the end of our runway.

        • BNE-SIN is EK Boeing 777 (or QF A300)
whereas Scoot is a 787 Dreamliner and far more comfortable.
Just need to get to GC for departure.

          BNE-DXB was A380 now 777 :-(

        • @MITM:

          QF A330

And the BNE-DXB 777 is only until September or October. Back to A380 after that.

        • +1

          @Flying Ace:
          Thanks for the info.
My DXB June flight was booked on A380, then got rebooked on 777. Not happy Jan.

  • Bummer, looks like it excludes "Formula 1 week" i.e. September 16th is Race Day.

  • It’s Melb only

  • Its always interesting to see how some flights have to divert to Melbourne from Sydney, and not the other way around

  • +1

Emirates is awesome. Family travelled on Emirates to Singapore and was pleasantly surprised it was on par with Singapore Airlines.

Personally I would still opt for Singapore Airlines. Usually, for an additional $100 to $200 (depending on sales period), you can purchase tickets (for example) from Melbourne return to Tokyo for $700+ and still get to stayover at Singapore on either or both legs.

Service wise, both are really good.

  • pity, All Sydney direct flights arrive in the day 4.50pm, no overnight flights

I a wasted day, you're essentially paying for a extra night hotel

    • +1

Depends how to look at it. Personally with red-eye flights, I'll gain a day travelling but I'll often lose a day to exhaustion.

Can be a much of a much really.

      • heh Yeah i get you.

A friend of mine complains about me needing to arrive the 3hr pre airport, because I can sleep anywhere.

  • How do the promo codes work? When I try to add it to a booking for April it has no affect on the price.

    • Could be running into some exclusion on the code. See original deal.

You could just book with a 3rd party which works out cheaper usually, so just use Skyscanner.

  • +1

by the way, something interesting just came out. tried to book without the code and i got cheaper price for flight mel-sg. the difference is i have to fly one day later. so, compare with code and without code!

  • Anyone know how much would be the stay there approx. for 1 week ? 2 Adults and 1 Child 6 yrs old..

  • QANTAS have also got a sale on Singapore for similar prices @ IWTF. $414 for Perth, $515 Melb, $562 Bris, $563 Syd, $564 Adel. Pretty similar flights, both have layovers it looks like except for Perth. Might be better to use a travel credit etc.

  • Do you guys think it's cheap enough to book other flights from there? I. E. Europe? Like Singapore to Europe then come back to Singapore and come back home to Sydney?
