Catalogue for VIC shows a bonus of 5GB so 7.5GB total
After Google play shutdown. These are not worth.
It's worth it for long activation to get bonuses such as:
Telstra Air
NRL Pass
Netball Passhate sport - so most of those are usless, My plan has ample data for what i need it for…
also, i dont need to worry about finding an access point, can use it anywhere … couldn't agree more with you dabell, after being a faithful telstra mobile customer for 10 years or so, the removal of the play store credit was the last straw, I finally bit the bullet, jumped ship.
Coles 20 dollar plans 3GB of data, unlimited talk and text, and a 35 day expiry rather than a 28 day expiry.
the coles 40 dollar plan which comes with 10GB of data per month, works out to be 417 per year.
the Telstra 30 dollar - 28 day plan works out to be 391… thats only 26 dollars a year difference or just over 2 dollars a calendar month - for 7.5GB more data.
given it is on the optus network rather than the telstra network…my 20 dollar plan with 500MB more data (per top up) is about 208 per year, so 182.50 cheaper per year, or 15 cheaper per calendar month, almost half price… !
the kogan plans are even cheaper…
also my wife just bought a 20 dollar Coles prepaid starter sim for her mum, 10 bux from coles! (cant find any details of the special so haven't posted it)
the Telstra 30 dollar - 28 day plan works out to be 391
Your maths and comprehension is not good. 12x30=$360 using the monthly Auto recharge option.
given it is on the optus network rather than the telstra network…
I like my mobile to work wherever I go, Optus and Vodafone don't have the same coverage and they oversell their network.
my 20 dollar plan with 500MB more data (per top up) is about 208 per year, so 182.50 cheaper per year, or 15 cheaper per calendar month, almost half price… !
Not having to deal with Optus or Vodafone is worth the small amount extra to Telstra.
Your maths is shocking BTW. $208 compared to $360 isn't anywhere near half price.
I think you completely missed the point wisc. I don't use Telstra for my mobile. I active the Sim on 'long life' and put the sim in the bin.
That way I can keep using Optus and get all the Telstra customer perks.
Your math is worse! (although my comments ARE based on the link below that states its 28 days, and wasn't discussing "Scheduled Monthly Recharge" which may actually give you two more days of prepaid for free… )
so if we just have a look at the standard Telstra plan…
Telstra's 30 dollars is per 28 days.. (not per calendar month - again based on the below link.)
https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/30-…
"All inclusions for use in
Australia in 28 days"365 days a year/28 days for this plan = ~13 periods in a year, NOT 12,
so that = 391 (if you don't round) for a full calendar year… - divide that by 12 to give you a true monthly amount… = 32.5 per calendar month.Coles at 35 days per top up…is 10.42 Top ups (periods) per year…(365/35) or 208 dollars per full year (20*10.42) for there 20 dollar plan (or 417 for the 40 dollar plan per year!)
Given the 20 dollar plan works out to be 17.38 per calendar month ,due to the extended amount of days covered, and the Telstra plan 32.50 per month due to the reduced 28 days, the Coles plan is 53% of the cost of the Telstra plan, I consider that almost half…
My statement "given it is on the Optus network rather than the Telstra network…" was in relation to the fact the Optus network isn't as good as Telstra… so i agree, given, it IS the Optus network, so not as good as the telstra network, (Read, "so the savings may not mean as much to you")
*keep in mind none of my calcs are rounded - only the screen values are.
my math is perfectly fine thanks!
wasn't discussing "Scheduled Monthly Recharge" which may actually give you two more days of prepaid for free… )
So you have no idea what you're talking about and have posted misleading information to support your pointless and inaccurate argument.
365 days a year/28 days for this plan = ~13 periods in a year, NOT 12,
Auto recharge gives you 12 periods a year. Pretty simple really.
So you won't account for the auto recharge giving you the most use of your credit on Telstra but you will claim that everyone will recharge the Coles one at exactly 35 days manually. Great work there.
I may consider it now if it costs only $5, or at most $10.
Need Telstra for unmetered Apple Music, but I'm already on Telstra prepaid.
Does anyone know if I can buy 6 Boost Mobile starter kids and 6 Telstra starter kits and then just port my number once a month? If I can find all the starter kits half price then I'll save $180 a year.
No you cannot port between Boost and Telstra. You can only transfer the service using their blank sims and cannot use the starter kits.
Darn. No way around it then.
$30 gets you 2.5 GB data worth for a month. At half price, I am not even tempted to buy this. Op you did great but I just don't like Telstra as generally their price can be quite steep and not so much inclusion, except for their F&F promotional.
