Just be aware that Tomtom have announced that they are getting out of the sports wearable market. It is not clear how long these products will be supported but I suspect these products are being cleared out from inventory.

My partner and I actually own the Tomtom Cardio Spark watches and whilst initially we were happy with the performance, Tomtom issued a firmware update last September which completely broke the Blue-tooth connectivity with the mobile phone app for a large majority of its users.

In spite of the Tomtom support forum being full of posts from people no longer able to pair their watches with their phones, Tomtom has been relatively silent on the issue saying only that they are aware of the problem and are looking into implementing a solution.

As of the end of Jan 2018, they still have not implemented a fix. Without Blue-tooth connectivity the watch is almost useless. You can connect it directly to a computer with the supplied USB charging cable but, that's not very convenient.

Also note that the silicon band are prone to cracking/breaking after a short period of usage. Its been difficult to find anyone that sells them.

Tomtom will replace broken bands under warranty but I've been waiting since last December to get a replacement and still no idea if/when it will be supplied.

My take on the current situation is that Tomtom has all but abandoned this product line.

As always, your mileage may vary.

  • Love my Spark plus cardio (similar). After having various Garmin watches I have enjoyed the simplicity and wearable-ness. Good for casual training under 3-4 hours. Good Strava integration.

I go through a band every 6 months. Have had two replacements so far, under warranty. A bit annoying. Given low buy price I would dump it before paying for a replacement band if warranty claim did not work (and probably write nasty reviews).

The recent Bluetooth update was a shock after 2 years since release. Works well though for me. Shrinks battery life and only supports sms / call notification but can be reverted to old function.

Shame to hear tomtom are giving up. Was hoping they would fix their band problem and continue on.
