Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones II - 61,000 Qantas Points @ Qantas Store

25

A part of the Qantas Store Clearance sale - the Bose QC35 II are on sale for 61,000 points.

I don't value the points at 1¢ each, but rather at 0.5¢ because that's roughly what the Woolworths vouchers are priced at. (i.e. a $500 woolies voucher is 98,050 points).
Based on these figures, these headphones work out to be roughly $311, lower than I've seen advertised on here before.

but you can sell them at 1c each. Which would make this deal a whopping $610

    • Yeah lol

$500 woolies voucher is 98,050 points

Could sell the points for $980, why get a woolies voucher?

Just sell your points on ozb and you will get 1c per pt

    • Problem with selling points is that there is reports on the web that Qantas is increasingly cracking down on this. And they don't just ban the seller they also ban the purchaser.

Not sure if i want to take the risk. Anyways, if you always travel during peak time, usually flight redemption is very good. Last time i got $1500-2000 economy airfares for 70,000 points and $200 in taxes. The exchange rates for business / first class is even better.

Sometimes even better when they offer a points discount for flights…. did a 35000 points for flights from melb to hong kong during a peak period so around $1500 if purchased directly with no points..

  • Exactly, you would be better off just selling your points, getting the $610 and then buying them for $347.20 from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/358396 meaning you end up with the headphones and $262.80 in your pocket.

    @ryanhunt Can I buy all your Qantas points at 0.51c :) ?

  • If you are comfortable with breaking the qantasff t&c. eg. if you have 1million points and only want to redeem 60k then selling them might put your remaining balance at risk. for me however qantas ff program is junk to find a redemption that works for you (time and destination in anything > economy) so I was happy to cash out my account for 1c per point.

    • It's not junk. You just lack planning.

I usually book as soon as it is available. Then cancel it if anything comes up. you only lose a few thousand points nothing major and you guarantee yourself the tickets.

Pretty much every single flight during December peak season for me was purchased using points.

Just don't expect to get any good tickets using points if you don't book at least 9months in advance.

      • I know you can find redemptions if you book as soon as they become available, but I have found availability much better on star alliance. my gripes were not just with the availability, its also the surcharges (economy redemptions generally cost as much in surcharges as just buying the ticket outright) business surcharges tip the value right down compared with alternatives. Also better earn rate value (for J redemptions including fees) I have found better elsewhere. value is personal but for me it is not particularly competitive.

Also that award booking interface where all of the sociopathic user experience designers are sent.

Why do people buy the points?

Use ff points to buy business class flights.

      • ah cool, thanks

        But it's illegal?

        • Well, it's against the terms of service.

But so is having multiple accounts for a variety of things and people do that a lot more willingly.
Ahem, Up and Go promotion? ;)

@pennypincher98: Ok the only thing I'm confused about I'd why he values them more/less than there worth? I'm Confused

@Lockster: he thought buying a Woolies gift card at an outrageous price ($500 for 98000 points) was normal compared to $980 for 98000 points so he valued them at half as much.

          @pennypincher98: ahhhhhhh
          Makes sense now

You really undervalue your QFF points..
Sell your points and you can just about buy 2 sets for the price this one is going to cost you.

Even if you don't want to sell your points, save them for something with a little more value.

Fair points everyone - I have over 500k points and so I didn't want to risk losing them (due to t&c) to sell on here (as much as I'd love the $$$ for them).

  • Have 40k ff points.. Anyone interested in buying dm me.

  • Im lost how do does $500 of voucher get 98,050 FF points? and not 500 points? Thanks

    • 98,050 Qantas FF points gets you a $500 Woolies voucher.

      • thanks I got it now
