What Is The Best NBN Plan Available Right Now?

Looking to change my plan up, and am wondering what the general consensus is with regards to the best available NBN plan on the market at the moment.

By 'best' I mean reliability & decent speed. Just for general household usage.

I have FTTP.

  • TPG is reliable and budget for me as I am in Sydney metro area also with FTTP, rarely to very unlikely you have service disruptions.

The $59.99 per month is good enough as I was using ADSL that was 2km away from the exchange, so any upgrade in speed was great.

  • Current plan details?
Any particular requirements from your new plan?

    • Currently on a pretty light plan - only 25mbps 100GB per month for $40.
I'm with Skymesh, so unmetered Netflix.

The plan I keep going back to is Telstra 50mbps 1000GB for $80/month. On a 24month contract but.
The next comparable would be Aussie Broadband (same speed and quota) for $85/month on no contract.

Don't need any specific requirements, but if we are to change provider and Netflix is metered, then a healthy quota will be needed for it, plus occasional YouTube etc etc.

Telecube has some good plans but I think they no longer include Netflix, might be w roth a ticky. And check out there Whirlpool special.

100/40 Mbps 1000GB Data [XXXL] – $69 per month ($69 setup fee, no contract)

  • Try Belong. Just looked at their nbn offer… unlimited with boosted speed during peak times $60 mth.
Supposed to be a Telstra re-seller.

I've been with Belong before, and my experience wasn't good. Thankfully I wasn't on a contract.

What is the best car available now?

    • +1

      Whatever one you drive.

      • Cool.

  • Aussie Broadband are considered to be the best (reliable, no evening slowdown, tech support that has a braincell). However they just released a new 'roll your own' pricing scheme and they have increased prices as part of this. I guess they think they can get away with it. You only really win if you use less than the maximum of the previous packages.

    • Yup. I got connected in 3 weeks from sign up. Mine is fibre to node (sigh) but speed has been steady above 50 down and 20 up. Used to only have max 3.5 via ADSL!!!

  • There's an important update at WP which might convince you of the best bang for the buck:

    And Aussie BB:

I'm now on FTTP, and have got both services active - at the moment, there's hardly any difference where peak periods are concerned. I can refer anyone if need be for either.

  • Best to check what the maximum speed you can get, before you change. There is no point to paying for something you cannot get.
