Sales on Flights MEL-SIN 23/12-27/12

Do sales ever come up over these dates or will the flights likely get more and more expensive the closer to Christmas we get?

Need to fly 4 people Melbourne to Singapore 23/12 to 27/12 plus/minus a day either side.

Wanting to pull the trigger on jetstar outbound $400 and scoot inbound $170 but everyone else wants to wait for some magical sale with Singapore/qantas/virgin/Malaysia Airways.

Thoughts?

Much appreciated

never sales during xmas break, flew to SIN 24th to 31st dec last year for 700 on jetstar

    • Thought as much. Cheers

  • Change your dates, it will be cheaper then

    • Spending Christmas in Singapore with family. Not much room to move dates

move xmas. celebrate it in mid December.

i work over xmas and get sick penalty rates, and take the week before it off with family instead.

If you are 100% sure on the dates, then book now (or latest by July). The flight prices will increase significantly as you get closer to the date. There will never be a sale for that period.

A sale? At Christmas time, one of the busiest periods of the year to be flying? Nope.

That's what I thought but they insist it'll happen. I'm thinking 600 return pp is pretty cheap for those dates

      • They may happen, but the chance of a sale appearing vs the price going up and not coming down is pretty slim!

If you're happy with the prices, lock it in and be done with it!

  • You can do a Jetstar price beat on the inbound and save another 10% (although the Jetstar flight leaves 19 hours later).

    • Yeah won't work, Jetstar says

leaving at a comparable time to the competitor flight. Both flights must leave:
within one hour of each other if they're domestic or flights between Australia and New Zealand
within one hour of each other if they’re international flights within Asia

      So can't price match

      • within the same calendar day if they’re international flights (excluding flights within Asia and flights between Australia and New Zealand).

        Australia is NOT in Asia.

        • all those flights can be booked via the Jetstar AUSTRALIA website, so rules apply.

But ok, you made a big deal about it, so are the rules different for Jetstar asia at all then?

        • @JimmyF: To quote Jetstar AUSTRALIA website:

leaving at a comparable time to the competitor flight. Both flights must leave:
          1) within one hour of each other if they're domestic or flights between Australia and New Zealand
          2) within one hour of each other if they’re international flights within Asia
          3) within the same calendar day if they’re international flights (excluding flights within Asia and flights between Australia and New Zealand).

In this case, rule 3 applies since Australia is NOT "within Asia". (Hence, he CAN price beat the fare.)

Holidays will never be cheap. Just got back from the long weekend today and the ticket was just over $1k per person. But WOW Emirates A380 is amazing
