Suggestions for 15" 2 in 1 laptop?

Looking for a suggestions for a 2 in 1 laptop which has the following specs:

  • 15 inch. Possibly 14 but no smaller.
  • Excellent quality screen, bright and vibrant colours. For example, no Dell Inspiron-type screens.
  • Prefer local stock if possible to avoid warranty & import headaches (or otherwise, grey stock that offers an onsite instead of back to base warranty, unlikely as that seems to be).
  • Budget is around $2500 but may be able to go higher.

I know the Dell 2 in 1 is launching in a few months but I'd like to get something sooner than that if possible. Considered the Yoga 720 but wasn't willing to pay $3099 for something with notorious screen problems.

And does anyone know if the Dell US warranty is transferable to Australia?

    For that screen size, if you're willing to buy from the US you will have a lot more options. Both the Yoga 720 and Spectre X360 have 15" models.

    For local stock, I like the Yoga 920:
    * 13.9" screen, available in QHD, not as bright as it could be
    * 8th gen CPU
    * 4 channel Thunderbolt
    * Very nice watchband hinge
    * Normal webcam placement
    * Good keyboard
    * On sale right now at JB Hifi (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/lenovo/l…)
    * i7 and 16gb ram options available

    The Spectre X360 is also good, but the screen is too small:
    * 13.3" screen, brighter than the Yoga
    * Cheaper than Yoga when on sale

  • The 15 inch surface tablet 2 has been announce for release in Australia. Not sure about the cost though..

  • Surface Book 2 15". 1.92KG though at $3649 release date 01/03/2018
    Maybe wait for Surface Laptop 2 and hope they release a 15" version and are usually cheaper than Surface Books
    This might be better?

    • Thanks. I've decided that I really want one which has a flexible / spinnable hinge + pen compatibility so I'm waiting for either the new HP x360, Lenovo Yoga or the Dell XPS 15 to hit our shores (and hopefully reduce in price after awhile).

  • Hey, I have been looking at the same models

    1. Dell Inspiron 15
    2. HP x360
    3. Lenovo yoga 720
    4. Microsoft book 2

    I was also thinking about the xps as well…

    What is everyones thoughts on what to get. I need to get one in the next few weeks. This laptop will last me at least a good 4 years for uni work. I was also thinking about just buying an apple macbook not becuase I like it, but because it holds its value in the long run. I'n not sure how these other brands will do?

    I'd really like to hear what everyone things because I'm a little stuck myself.
