[HELP] Original Xiaomi OLED Display Smart Air Purifier 2S setup

So i've spent the last 2 hours trying to get this damn thing to work with Xiaomis official android app MiHome. I've tried following all the suggestions posted in other forums and watching a bunch of youtube videos and still havnt had much luck.

For those that have bought the non-OLED version (Xiaomi Air Purifier 2) that have successfully managed to sync it with MiHome, could you please tell me how you managed to do it with step by step instructions? I'm wondering if its possible that my unit might be faulty

    Usual thing to ask is did you set the app region to China?

    I've tried all the regions, im wondering if it could be a wireless configuration issue or setting im missing on my router? The purifier is broadcasting itself over wireless but im unable to detect it over Bluetooth if that matters… also tried multiple android devices with MiHome without any success.

    which version of the mihome app do you have?
    it was as simple as add device for me, and click a few buttons of next next next

    latest version from Google Play, 5.0.19

    tried a bunch of different phones and tablets with different versions of android… only one was able to pick up the purifier from "Mainland China" region. After attaching it to my profile it can now be seen on any android device when connecting to Mainland China in MiHome. Disappointed that I cant use the Western regions since most of it is in Chinese, but at least its working.

    MiHome is absolute junk, this post should serve as a warning for anyone else that is thinking about buying the 2S model.

    I’ve synced with mi home and Yeelight / google home with no issues.

      ebay, I suspect even if you were to order from GearBest, Banggood, AliExpress or any of the other big online shops from China you will probably get the same version. Packaging/box was all in Chinese along with the user manual.

    Just looked at the shipping label, seller is based in China but was actually shipped from a warehouse in NSW. Only took a few days to arrive which i thought was a bit odd. If you want the ebay listing details let me know.

    The app is junk. Been a long time trying to figure it out. App won't communicate with the device anymore. How hard is it to do what it's supposed to do piece of junk.

    Looks like the firmware is updated to version 1.4.3_13106

    Give that a try it might fix your problem.
