Western Canada & Small ship inside passage cruise

Hi, I'm trying to work out a 6 week holiday to explore these areas in May/June this year. Want to do the cruise on a small ship and happy to drive about but hoping to get some feedback on any aspect including the Rocky Mountaineer and anything you think might help. We're not into big groups and tick the box tourism so we're trying to piece it together ourselves. Appreciate any help
