This is also a 15" backpack, compared to the dry red compact can only handle 13" laptops.

Laptop pocket is still the same on the side as fyi for those who don't the like dry red design

If you want laptop access on top, would recommend this bag. Also has space for water bottles on the side. Only thing is less padding. You can get it for $107.37 or ~46% off

  • Could this hold a 60cm long tripod and small camera?

    • Probably not. I would suggest you check out lifehack. I think you can put the tripod at the side. Also, it's decieving but the main compartment can be accessed both top or side.

Side access makes it easy to swing your backpack, get your stuff without putting it down.

You can always buy it and return it if it doesn't suits you. That's the best thing with Myer. And because it's free shipping, you don't lose out.

God Crumpler is over priced. Their products don't even look nice.

    • +5

Their product is very high quality and Australian designed.
You don't have to buy them though.

      • -6

        Australian designed

They're bags. Not exactly like rocket scientists are designing them.

        • Actually you would be surprised how ingenious some bags are designed. Crumpler always surprises me on some of thier designs.

For example, I never thought of 3rd leg stabilisation on messenger bags (Barney rustle), or dual access on a bag to help access your stuff easier. (Life hack)

Never thought of some really sturdy bags can be foldable and portable and dual zipper. (Old Squids)

Never thought of laptop bags have dedicated sleeves can be hooked on luggage bags. ( Dry red )

Or a fannybag can be used as a sling bag (lla waistbag)

Yes all of the above may be common knowledge for some people but I only discovered most of these with Crumpler bags.

Great buy when on special which happens a lot these days. They also have lifetime warranty. Just bring damaged crumpler to one of their shops and they’ll get it sorted out for free. Not sure if you can say the same to other bag brands available locally

they didn't improve the design by leaving the stupid laptop pocket on the side..

    • +1

Would agree with you there hence the warning in the description.
I didn't have any bad experience so far with it but I try to be extra careful.

      Accidents do happen though.

    • this is actually something i really like about this bag. it makes going through airport security just that little bit easier

  • It is a nice and very durable bag (. The RRP is ridiculously overpriced for sure.
I got one in black when it was $149 2 weeks ago.

  • I have the dry red compact and recently forgot to zip up the side pocket, resulting in my surface taking a dive. No damage fortunately as it was from a low height and onto carpet, but it could have been devastating…

  • Are the chest straps removable in the Mantra backpack

    • Actually the 15" doesn't have chest straps. The picture attached to this bag is incorrect in the Myer website.

Chest straps is for the bigger Mantra bag which can hold a 17" laptop (not on sale in Myer website)

      • Thanks :)

        • Sorry, got my facts wrong.

Im still correct there are no cheststraps for this Mantra bag, but there are cheststraps for the 30L Mantra Travel Backpack.

This is only a 25L storage.

Both still hold 15" laptop. There isn't a 17" backpack

        • @harkoliar: Thanks harkoliar, ordered one :)

        • @alwaysdrmz:

Did you just buy it now? It's saying out of stock for me.

        • @crazyleo: I just tried it adding in checkout and still works for me.
