Noticed this in my email.

Great comments previously https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/349046

I purchased from the previous deal, and have been more than happy with it. No longer available on Amazon AU at the moment though, and this is even cheaper.

Black colour only.

  • I got this amazon and the size is really ideal

  • Perhaps add "10400mAh" to title?

  • Hows this compared to the xiaomi ones? The size seems larger for same capacity.

    • +1

It's larger due to Tronsmart using lithium-ion batteries unlike the thinner lithium-polymer batteries used in Xiaomi's 10000mAh power banks.

    • +1

this also has a usb c port for charging the power band or devices …. the xiaomi doesn’t.

      • So the USB c port can also output?

    • At this price I will start looking into the Xiaomi powerbank 2c. QC 3.0 , 2 USB ports, 20000mah.

      • any deals on the xiaomi ?

i know they had a recent one on the 10,000 mah new model with 2 usb a for output and micro usb for charging.

        • Maybe shopping square will do a deal another deal? Gearbest stopped sending xiaomi powerbank to au so prices won't be the best.

    • I don't think mine is 10400mAh or it doesn't hold the charge very well.

I charge it up through wall socket till its full. My phone is a mi Max, has 4850mah I can only charge my phone to 100% once and once the phone goes back to <10% I'll charge again but only make to 50%-70%.

I'm not using my phone will charging either.

      • There’s something call charging efficiency, there’s lost in power during charge. Good battery back is usually has about 70-80% efficiency, also once you reach about 90% it drains more power from the power bank to charge the last 10% totally not worth it

      • +1

There is a little trick that applies to all power banks.

The 10400mAh rating from the battery cells is at 3.7V while your phone is actually rated at 5V. So if we do the calculation: 3.7 x 10400 / 5 = 7696mAh It means it'll charge your phone 1.5 times rather than 2.1 times.

        This article explains it further.

        • +1

That's not accurate because phones contain 3.7V cells as well and its also rated that way. Not to mention that in QC2/3, phones don't even charge at 5V anymore !

Main reason is charging losses… you lose 10% in the phone's charging circuits, 10% on the powerbank's circuits. 5% charging whilst the phone is on (phone is using up a little battery doing other tasks whilst charging). And even the batteries at both ends has small efficiency losses.. particularly when charging at high current.

This is why phones and powerbank gets warm when charging. Heat is the result of the wasted energy.

  • Is it possible to use this to also charge an iphone? Just wondering.

    • +1

will charge iphone at 5v 2.4 amps ….. like their 12W chargers.

  • Cheers, missed out on the amazon deal!

  • What is the expected delivery date? I'm keen on getting one as travelling first week of march. Enough time?

  • Wow, great deal. I paid USD$29 for mine from AliExpress months ago.

    I'm pretty happy with mine.

    Pros:
    - QC 3.0 input and output
    - USB C input (no need to bring an extra micro-usb cable with you)
    - comes with a USB A to C cable

    Cons:
    - because it's long, it's not exactly 'pocketable'

    • might look cool in front pocket in certain social environments.

  • I got this one from Amazon Au for AUD24.49 after the $10.50 discount with the AMEX deal.

Not happy at all compare to the Xiaomi 10000mAh one. It seems to take longer to charge, I have to press the power button to get it charge my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and it is bulky! it is as tall as my phone yet it is THICK!

I ended up giving it away and buy another Xiaomi one.

BTW, you cannot charge your phone with it while it is being charged.

  • How do people find the quality of Tronsmart manufactured powerbanks? There's an alternate deal here:
(https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-Edge-20000mAh-Powe…) It looks to me about the same value as the Xiaomi one a month or two ago. Any possible problems worth noting about it?

    • Looks good and well reviewed, but depends on if you need the features for the additional cost. It can charge three devices at once.

      • I personally like it. But then the next big thing to ask is whether GeekBuying is trustworthy or not. TrustPilot and Quora both seem to have less than stellar opinions on it. I'm not purchasing it yet, until I hear more in depth on their ability to deliver.

        • I have not made enough purchases from them to know yet. As always, it's when you need to make a warranty claim you'll find out what sort of business they are.
