eBay Sale - International Buyer

Hi fellow OZB’ers.

Just need some quick advice. Someone is wanting to buy from me (says he is in NZ, but location says his in US). Zero feedback on the account.

I am just reselling something that is new, just in case anyone is wondering why someone international is wanting something from me.

I have sent overseas before - question is really how authentic this buyer may be. Smell CC scam here based on variable in location..?!

Just want to gauge thoughts before I send off anything.

  • unless you want to say bye bye to your item, don't send it

  • Once payment clears…

    • +2

if they are using Paypal, it still can be reverted once it is cleared

      • after you empty paypal account and remove bank & CC

        • Have you tried if this work?

  • How much is the item? How are they buying (Paypal or Bank Transfer)?

  • Nah don't do it. Most likely a scam.
How did you try selling? auction with a buy it now option?

    • It’s a buy now option only

  • Not worth it.

  • Sell it locally through scumtree or farcebook. Cash only

  • Scam! Stay away, been burnt as with others on this forum, very similar user profile.

  • I can't say if I think your buyer might be a scammer but I've sent several items to overseas buyers who had a PayPal shipping address of one country and eBay location of another:

    1. A buyer whose eBay location is The Netherlands but wanted to have the items (several pieces of porcelain ware) shipped to Singapore where she was an expat. I had to instruct her to add her Singapore address to her PayPal account before I could ship it.

    2. A buyer from Ecuador (a country I don't ship to) who wanted me to ship 2 front indicator lenses for an old car (hard to find these days) to his sister's address in Florida, USA.

    3. A buyer from Taiwan (according to his eBay location) who bought rear side air vent covers for another old car, which I shipped to Canada (his PayPal address).

It's not that hard to suss out if these buyers are genuine, based on email exchanges. Also, some snooping on Google and Facebook helps.

  • Looks legit. To be sure, send to me first.

  • SEll it in Australia GUMTREE.com.au
