  • Worth a try at this price.

    • But you still need the machine. (but pretty cheap, think its $30 at costco)

  • Hi Rep.
Just wondering in a Dolce gusto machine how much water does the Lungo pods take. Currently use Americano pods and they take the full amount of water 8 bars I think. How would these compare in volume. Also how are the use by dates for Lungo and Cappuccino pods as have bought before off Dolce gusto direct and use by dates were not long. Many thanks

  • Lungo recommended dose is 110mls - I understand that the Nescafe Americano advise 8 bars (in our opinion this is far too much water to put through 6grams of coffee and the resulting drink would be less than ideal - our capsules contain the same ammount of coffee as Dolce Gusto from Nescafe so I guess it is entirely up to you how much water you put into a shot but a true Italian Lungo would be 110mls and we believe that will give you the best tasting coffee - use by on our :Must Espresso Italiano Dolce Gusto Compatibles is approx 12 months from now (depends on blend)

  • Hi Rep,
Do your pods say how many bars you need to use on the machine to get the correct intensity/taste?
    Thanks

    • +1

Yes this info is on the packs
Essentially 4 Blends (Pure Arabica, Ristretto, Cremoso and Napoli are Espresso varieties (40mls shot - level 1 or 2 on Dolce Gusto machine) and Lungo is 110mls (level 3 or 4) cappuccino is a 40ml shot of Coffee and then whatever volume you wish for milk depending on how strong/weak you like it - I would suggest 150mls for milk

  • Which of these is equivalent to latte macchiato?

    • If you require a blend with dried milk capsules - Cappuccino Barista is the only blend we supply that comes with milk capsules. If you make your Latte Macchiato with warm fresh milk any of our Espresso blends are perfect - you simply warm your milk (Microwave or however) and add a 40mls Espresso shot of coffee.
      Re flavours of individual blends
There are two main types of coffee bean (Arabica and Robusta)
Arabica has a smooth creamy rounded flavour whereas Robusta provides Intensity to a blend but in high proportions can be considered a little bitter

FYI our blend mixes are as follows
      Ristretto : 20% robusta 80% Arabica
      Cremoso : 60% robusta 40 % Arabica
      Napoli: 90% robusta 10% Arabica
      PUro Arabica: 100% Arabica
      Lungo : 40 % robusta 60% Arabica
      Decaffeinato: 50 % Arabica 50 % robust

I would recommend you try the variety carton as that will allow you to find your preferred blend rather than going for single blend cartons
