Standing Desk Recommendations

I have a standing desk at home, with a permanent height. This requires the use of a stool, which is fairly uncomfortable. I'm thinking about changing to a variable height desk and more ergonomic standard height chair.

Anyone got one of these - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Height-Adjustable-Standing-Desk-… - and able to give feedback? Alternatively, any other recommendations/suggestions?

I'd rather not go with a desktop stand, as they seem to be pretty unstable - they're safe, but the units I've used like the Varidesk shake to much for my liking.

Not saying the SKARSTA Desk sit/stand, white $249 at Ikea is good or not as I haven't tested it out, but is another option and cheaper compared to the eBay one you have provided.

  • Thanks - the eBay desk has electric raise and lift, which is what I'd rather.

At work we have updowndesk; it is a motorised standing desk (with 2 memory settings) that you can bolt to an existing desk.

So far so good, no issues (been using it for more than 6 months)

  • I've been in the market for one too.

Currently shortlisted to two, yet to purchase:

    Ikea, $599 - 10yr warranty

However I have noticed a lot of mixed reviews, which makes the 10yr warranty appealing.

Kogan, seem to have a few different options

This one for $379, 1yr warranty included (extension purchasable).

They also have a whole bunch of other types and different price points, however can't seem to work out what the difference are and missing customer reviews.

Anyone purchased an electric sit/stand desk from Kogan and happy to share their thoughts?

  • I see you're in Brisbane. Not sure if this would interest you, but Cash Converters at Fortitude Valley have two Ergotron adjustable mounts with a dual monitor bracket for $149 each. They have a 20% sale on some items too, but I'm not sure if that includes the mount.

  • Officeworks has a few as well

  • Advise against JP Office Workstations as I had a poor service experience. Desk quality was ok though.

  • I'm also looking for a standing desk, like OP, the one on ebay appeals the most to me. Any suggestions for any other ones? Cheers :)

    • I've been using a frame from updowndesk.com.au for over a year, and I'm very happy with it. Admittedly I don't adjust it's height very often, however it's so solid I would be surprised if it failed any time soon. When fully raised, it has the tinniest amount of wobble while I'm typing, which is far far better than anything I've seen at Ikea or Officeworks.

My favourite feature is that it goes down to 64cm, which I find useful when I want to switch up my sitting posture from time to time. My second favourite feature is the adjustable width, as I've got a tight spot at the moment but want to get a wider top when I move into my new space.
