I really am tempted… but no Dolby Vision :(

      • +2

That would be something, except the subject TV isn’t getting HDR10+ either - only Panasonic’s new 2018 sets. No firmware upgrade to the older ones.

        • +2

Incorrect, there will be a software update for 2017 models to add the new HDR 10+. http://news.panasonic.com/global/topics/2018/53726.html

        • @msjb: I am waaaay past believing company promises of firmware updates to support new standards. Burnt by Sony and LG so far. I wonder if a complaint can be made to consumer affairs if a company doesn't deliver a promised firmware update to support a future standard.

        • @msjb: Where does it say that 2017 models will receive updates?

        • +3

@cyssero: all 2017 4K Pro models will receive the upgrade to HDR 10 +.
Watch the video skip to 3:36 if you wish.

        • @msjb: That is good news. However it is worth cautioning that until these are delivered, they're only promises.

        • @cyssero: Promises that you rely on when making a choice on TV purchase, is a term and condition. And as they say it in video, it might as well be in writing.

        • @msjb: Unless its printed on something and included with the all the booklets with the TV, or stated on their website, I wouldn't believe it. They will just say it was a mistake made during the presentation. Sony kept promising their receiver could support the new HDMI standards with a firmware update. All to be told, that no, their will not be an update due to the limitations of the hardware. Unfortunately I cant find any documentation stating that their would be a firmware update for HDMI to support the newer standards.

  • eBay has them listed under their 20% off “PRAWNS” coupon as a participating retailer but the code does not currently work. Perhaps they might be added to replace stores that have pulled out?

    • $4,745.00 on ebay not $3598 so?

Cant help but feel if 27 inch is too big for HD… surely 65 is way too big for mere UHD.

    :D

Depends how far away you sit really, but the HDR/OLED is what really matters here for picture quality. 4K is just the icing on the cake.

  • $3580 + shipping on eBay if your not close to a store.

Where is this listed? I cant see it

    • which ebay supplier / store?

I have one of these, its a beautiful set. Happy to answer any questions people have.

I have only good things to say about the TV except that the software is limited and there's been no updates since I got it 5 months ago. It does have YouTube and Netflix built in which is all most people need.

    • This is unbeatable value at $3598! Agree there is limitations on Smart features however, if you have an PlayStation, Xbox, Blu-Ray player or PVR attached - they usually have additional apps.
A software update is coming to add HDR 10+ support.

Yep I fully agree. The picture quality is simply stunning which should be the most important decision when it comes to a TV.
