[PC/DRM-Free] Carmageddon TDR 2000 - FREE (Normally $5.99) @ GOG

1760

48 hour giveaway to celebrate the GOG release of Carmageddon: Max Damage and Carmageddon TDR 2000.

Steam Rating - 7/10 (Mostly Positive)

EDIT: It appears GOG may have pulled the deal prematurely, despite only being 16 hours into that 48 hours (here is their original post: https://www.gog.com/news/release_carmageddon_max_damage_and_…). Hopefully this is only temporary, but I will keep checking the page.

EDIT EDIT: It's back up!

    Awesome, cheers.
Ah the memories.. Small hard drives, terrible slow Internet connections, games that were a tiny fraction of the size they are now but still took all day + overnight to download. DRM didn't exist, games were actually affordable by the average Joe and Carmageddon was still king of 3D death driving.

There's a new king of 3D death driving? I just assumed the genre faded into obscurity.

    • Reminds me of the days of destruction derby…too bad it isn't on steam :( - they really need to make a re-release HD of that ;)

    • dont forget kings of console multiplayer 3D death driving - twisted metal 1 & 2

    • DRM was still around.. just a lot easier to by pass :) Remember having to keep the game in your CD-ROM drive? And NO-CD cracks? SecuROM was one of the common protections.. easily bypassed by visiting sites like www.megagames.com

DRM did exist, it just asked you to find the correct word in the manual.

    CUNNING STUNT!

  • Agree with Stevies. +/- a stack of BSOD during downloads and gameplay.

Not my favourite of the Carmageddon series but still fun

    Thanks Op

i used to have to exit windows 98 into DOS to free up memory in order to play this.

  • I don't even know I have a account with GOG :)

    Cheers.

  • I don't remember BSODs or affordability. Games were $99!

I remember the disappointment. It had nothing on Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now and still no split screen

  • Another game in my collection.

  • Awesome, a real classic!

  • For those that aren't aware, this entry was made by Melbourne company Torus instead of the developer of the original two games. Hence the change in quality.

  • I was slightly disappointed when this first came out but it really grew on me. The driving feel is not as good as previous versions but I liked the design of the levels.

  • Looks like its over, or am i missing something ?

  • FREEEEE Just got it :D
