Got it when it's free for PS+ members

  • I have a feeling it’ll be hard to find. Or the definitive edition is in the Game Pass

    Yeah was posted here

    • Damn, I did do a search in the deals for it before I posted, but I didn't include the forum in the search so I missed it. Should I delete?

        Nope all good

  • Never played a MGS game before.

I thoroughly enjoy open world games with a crafting/ building element.

How does this go for $10?

Was my first MGS game. I thought it was very fun myself although it took a few hours for things to click mechanics wise for me.

No real crafting or building elements though if you're referring to minecraft style games. There's a base you can develop and weapons can be upgraded by finding resources but the upgrades all happen via a menu screen.

yeh i found the mechanics foreign as well , unfortunately i never overcame it either

Can’t go wrong for $10. I am almost 170 hours in and I still have a few things to do before I have unlocked all the achievements.

50 missions. 150 side ops (side missions). Some missions won’t appear until you have completed a side mission. You can go all guns blazing or play it safe.

Absolutely worth $10 if you didn't get this free with PS+ last year.

The open world is fun to traverse, and there's a lot to do without it being a collectathon type of game. Gameplay mechanics are awesome, one of the nicest-feeling games I've ever played. There are some base-building, soldier recruitment and weapon upgrading features that might appeal to you also. Really fun game.

      • Game mechanics are some of the best I've ever played. Storyline is all over the place and pacing is terrible.

The open world is fake as well …theres no npc's, villagers or real world things happening just the same ol' enemy base with a few trucks driving around.

Oh and that infamous jeep ride for 15 minutes with some weird song.

    • I'm not very far in, but I am really enjoying it. It's more of a sneak/blaze into an area to save the hostages/get intel while avoid getting shot kind of game, rather than a crafting/building one. But the story isn't bad so far. Different from what I was expecting. I'd never played a MGS game before either so was pleasantly surprised.

In your opinion, how's this game compared to MGS4. I enjoyed MGS4 a lot, but MGS5 being open-world, not so sure.

    • I liked it better than MGS4, personally. It's lighter on story (MGS4 was dense as hell for story content), but still has a Metal Gear charm.

It's definitely presented differently, being open world and more mission-focussed, rather than a linear game, but there are lengthy stealth sections that feel very much like the old Metal Gear Solid games. I think that it worked well in its own way - it was a really fun experience.

  • MGS Survive Beta just became available for PS4, anyone hopping on that?

    • Think I'll let that one go through to the keeper.

  • I've got it through both Plus and Game Pass.

But ten bucks is ten bucks and at ten bucks, I'll pick up a physical version if I see it. Been 20 a fair few times before, but 10 is a bargain.
