Difference between these two Dell XPS 13 Laptops.

I'm thinking of purchasing the Dell XPS 13 with the 20% discount. There's two that I'm currently looking at:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-13-8th-Gen-Intel-Core-i…

Both of these laptops seems to be identical in every way except for the CPU. The first is the 7th generation while the second is the 8th generation. But they are both priced the exact same. It also seems that more people have bought the 7th gen by a large margin compared to the 8th gen. What am I missing here? Should I just go for the 7th gen?

Buy the 8th Gen (7th gen has been around longer (more sales) and look at the sale dates, yea it should be cheaper)

  • I am also looking for a new device and xps13 looks attractive. I have read on this forum that it has coil whine - if owners can confirm or deny this please? Also a lot is talked about and I need any advice whether XPS or Lenovo X1Carbon or Lenovo Thinkpad T470s?

    • i bought the 7th gen xps 13 last yr, had coil whine. It took a while with Dell to accept the return (lots of back and forth and different departments). Got my money back in the end.

It's a great laptop but the whine can be annoying. I'm hoping the new 2018 model has fixed it…

      • Hi poida, is it on random machine or all XPS 13 has coil whine?

  • Would still get hit with Duty/GST on this right?
