ANZ Rewards Black Card: Questions

Hi all, this is in relation to the deal http://goo.gl/t55jn9 (i.e. ANZ rewards Credit Card with 75,000 points)

The requirement is to spend $2,500 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months. I'm wondering if paypal personal payment is eligible? That is, making a payment to buy goods via a personal payment.

Additionally, what's the going rate to cash out the 75,000 points (via ozbargain forums) roughly?

I'm thinking of buying a wrist watch via an internet forum, and buying via this credit card and selling points will be a nice way to soften the blow of such a large purchase.

Cheers

I suspect a personal payment on Paypal would be counted as a purchase given ANZ probably can't tell what type of transaction it was but I cannot say for sure. Do you not think you would already spend $2500 in 3 months?

Going rate tends to be about 1 cent per point, so you could get $750 or maybe a little more for these points. You will get much better value if you redeem them for a business class flight worth $3k or $4k.

    • 1c per point for airline points. These transfer at 2:1, so half that

Not sure if ANZ REWARDS card can have points transferred to others. The ANZ QANTAS card would earn QF points (which can be transferred to others, although often against their T&C).

    • Ah crap. This might be the deal breaker.

Get this credit card, you earn 75,000 Qantas points instead of 75,000 ANZ points:

        • What is the advantage of this? Are Qantas points transferable and/or are more 'in demand' by people?

@datzed: You can sell Qantas points here at 1 cent per point. The ANZ points convert to frequent flyer points at 2 to 1 so you will only get 37,500 points. You will earn double the cash by getting the Qantas card

        • @pantsparty: Thanks mate!

  • I'd say you'd need to transfer to Velocity at 2:1, then you could sell to Tuvz for $375 (1c per point).
