Where to Find Apple Strudel (Inspired by Inglorious Basterds)

I've had this obsessive problem when the film first came out. After the strudel scene I went looking for apple strudel. I was around europe back then, so it wasn't that hard.

Now I am in Sydney and have watched the film again, it has brought on this obsession again. So, where is your favourite strudel shop?

My fave so far is Wellington Cake Shop in Bondi. Its probably the closest to the best I've had in europe. I've tried my local bakery, Mezzapica, Christopher's, Pattison's. Whilst passable, I don't think they're using the right pasty because they don't have the thin crispy layers.

Even if you are out of Sydney, feel free to comment because you never know I might be around.

Good to see Inglorious Basterds inspired you to eat apple strudel, the movie had a similar effect on me in that I couldn't stop hitting people with a baseball bat after watching.

And it's often half price at Woolies

    • Poor bugger.

  • That pub scene is one of my all time favorites. So much bloody tension.

I think ALDI have it for their occasional German promotions.

    https://www.coricapastries.com.au/

there's a shop in melb cbd that sell them

maybe check if there's any in sydney

    • I've heard of them and i just saw their photos. Seems like they've taken it to another level.

I'll have to try when i get a chance

  • Schwartz cake shop in Wentworth falls is worth trying next time you visit the blue mountains.
But cherry is tastier than the apple.

  • Some of the places you've listed are more Mediterranean (Mezepica, Christopher's). If you want some good german food I reckon the Bavarian Beer cafe in Sydney CBD, or Munich Brauhaus in the Rocks would probably serve apple strudel for dessert.

I'm not a Strudel-Guru, but I've tried my fair share and the best one I had in Australia so far was here:

Apfelstrudel at the Concordia German Club in Marrickville
