In light of the current ebay 20% off sales, are there any good deals for DSLR cameras suitable for beginners? Primarily looking into Canon or Nikon crop cameras at the moment.
I'll be primarily doing photography, though I'd like the option to record decent videos, though that's lower priority.
I'd go secondhand. Most people buy an SLR then leave it in the cupboard.
This. I bought an entry level canon. Loved it. Used it for years. Then upgraded to a newer model. Now I have an SLR that's left in the cupboard. Just go check out gumtree or eBay. You'll get something significantly cheaper than brand new. But go to a store to figure out which one you like to use.
Go to JB and play with the cameras they have on display to give you an idea of feel and functions. Weight is important especially if you are lugging it around and holding it up. A decent lens can weigh a fair bit!
