Seems to be a good price on an external 8TB drive, particularly if you value the aesthetics and build quality of the enclosure.

I'd be interested to know what drive is inside to see if it's worthwhile shucking them for a decent NAS or secondary storage drive.

  Correct, it's a 3.5" external HDD that needs external power (power supply in the box).
