Can I Upgrade a 1TB HDD with an SSD from a Laptop. Going into an All in One LENOVO

Hi All.

Recently upgraded my ageing laptop with an SSD. I then got given a Lenovo IdeaCentre All in One, but it comes with a 1tb HDD.

Can I take the SSD with all my program etc, and put it in the Lenovo, without having to wipe the SSD and start from scratch?

Thanks

  • I think that should be fine. You will need your windows disc though as Windows will ask for it when it detects all the hardware changes. Looking at the Lenovo Ideacentre, it says it comes with a 1TB SSHD. Depending on how big your SSD is, you may be better off keeping the 1TB SSHD in there. Might want to check performance between SSD - SSHD - HDD before making your decision.

    • This is my model Lenovo IdeaCentre 300-22ACL

Low end, but still better than what I have.

With the SSD, I upgraded windows 7 to windows 10, so I don't have a disk.

    • Cheers.

It might work, I've done similar, but it sounds like a recipe for disaster. Just reinstall windows, it's easy.
