Weber Family Q Q3100 $608.15 Click and Collect @ Myer

700
ANNIVERSARY20

Been keeping an eye out for a Weber for some time. Found this at a great price of $628.15. Was about to pull the trigger but searched for a code on ozbargain which gave another $20 off using anniversary20 brings it down to $608.15 which is an amazing price.

Usual price stays around the $739 mark so I think this is a pretty good deal.

  • Great price on the best BBQ in Oz. We have the Q3200, however the only real "improvement" is the temperature gauge, which is uncommonly useful. However a Q3200 is $749 and not negotiable…

on the best BBQ in Oz.

dont see how.. it still uses gas ;)
      charcoal tastes way better

      • +1

Horses for courses my good commenter.

My Weber drum is used weekly for Sunday Roast (Just finished a beef roast 10mins ago) with charcoal and some soaked mesquite chips.

My Q3100 is used for brekky bacon and eggs, steaks, prawns, cheeky afternoon chorizo . Salami grilled with cheese and crackers, you name it.

        Can't recommend BOTH BBQ's enough.

      • Usually if I let the other half near the BBQ, charcoal is what we end up with.

    • rest of the family has a Q and of course they are awesome. but for taste charcoal can't be beat (well apart from woody maybe, but we put chips etc in our weber premium kettle - meat just tastes better. Now, If money no option the Big Egg is easily the best http://biggreenegg.com/ ceramic & charcoal.. just need $2k-$3k :) but the Q's are great…. so versatile and easy to use! direct and indirect cooking ftw :)

      • Now, If money no option the Big Egg is easily the best

hey… I think you mean Kamado Joe ;)

      • I used a weber when on holidays for direct heat cooking (grill), and was pleasantly surprised, fast heat up time, good heat so cooked food as expected rather, I can understand why the only complaint about the Weber Q is the price, not how it cooks.

But yes charcoal does add a different taste as charcoal has a drier heat compared to gas, and if fat falls on it it vapourises and adds flavour back to the meat, rather than just dripping into a fat tray, so I'm also looking at a kamado, or an offset smoker…. to also be able to slow smoke.

There seem to be several sub $1000 kamado type cookers available, now.

      And the electric starter ๐Ÿ˜‰

3200 has a taller hood too, bigger capacity

  • Got one, thanks!

Anyone know how big the boxes come? Would an average sedan boot do the trick?

    • +1

The box is huge. I managed to get mine into the back of an Audi Q3 โ€” just. Not sure if that helps but gives you something to compare with. Good luck.

    • I don't think so. You'd need and SUV with folded down seats minimum.

      • Or a wagon ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • I brought mine home in the back of a Ford Focus with rear seats folded…

    • Ours came home in a Yaris hatch with the back seats down. Agree the box is huge, but it fitted in boxed. Sedan has less access than hatch so might not fit through gap. I doubt it would go through rear door, even if gap big enough you need to account for the actual door being attached and restricting access. Might fit if you remove from box?

    • No I doubt it.

      Delivery shouldn't be that much.

    • No. Will need a ute or tray/wagon. It's quite large.

    • +3

It could potentially fit in med-large sedan's boot but it probably wont fit through the boot opening. I got mine using a small hatch, Hyundai Getz with rear seats folded down.

      Measured the box and its 75w x 51h x 100l cm

      • I've been trying to find box measurements to see if it'd fit in the back of my car. Couldn't get any online so thanks heaps for this! Really helpful!

Make sure you have a trolley as well; it weighs 40kg

  • Hi team. I'm buying myself a BBQ for my birthday and have been planning on going a Beefeater 1000E 4 burner for $550. Would this be a significantly better option? This deal couldn't be more perfectly timed

    • +1

I was originally against a Weber as I've found the hotplate to be too small for big gathos, but in reality this is only 20cm less width. This pretty much is the benchmark of barbies right?

      • +7

Another $600 spent on this damn site

        • Think the positive side. At least you have saved from the RRP to spend for another items :)

      • Yep, this is the benchmark of barbies. I have a Q3100, got it a few years back, and it chhugs and smokes along no worries. Even basic snags from the supermarket come out tasting great (the lid circulates the smoke giving that extra smokey flavour).

        • this is the benchmark of barbies.

          It is?

        • @Diji1: Yes, in my mathematical opinion.
The features/cost ratio is hard to beat.

        • @MathNerd: Such a nerd!

      • I would say Ziegler & Brown are the benchmark.

    • I'm restoring a Beefeater S3000, after 14 years they've made advances such as the new vapouriser, etc.
They are a great bbq and use very standard parts and sizes (grill plates, burners, ignition, etc), just the vaporisers are custom, and the firebox design.

You can take the weber on holidays (less the trolly), the beefeater you can't.

The weber has better resale value if decide to get something different, and this is a very good price

The beefeater will last longer, enameled steel firebox vs aluminium.

thanks for the post, i opted for the smaller q2000 with cart that was also on special (in two orders to get $20 off twice)

    • In hindsight I wish I did this.

    • Two orders == two weber Q?

      • +1

Two orders as in one for the q2000 bbq and another for the cart - both over $100 so qualify for $20 off…. $40 off rather than $20 if placed one order ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good deal. Get the pizza stone as well.

    Absolutely delicious pizza

  • Does anyone know ow if this comes with the stand?

    • Yes, it comes with the stand. The other ones (Baby Q, Q1000 and Weber Q, Q2000) don't come with a stand.

      • Baby Q and Q1000 are the same thing.

        • +3

          Sorry I mistyped. I should've said The other ones (Baby Q [Q1000] and Weber Q [Q2000]) don't come with a stand.

Poor use of brackets by MathNerd - reported myself to the mods.

        • @MathNerd: lol, self report…very efficient and A.I.

Great BBQ. The best gas backyard BBQ you can get for low and slow IMO.

Great deal OP. I remember getting this from Masters (who still remembers them?) during an eBay 20% off sale. Picking it up was a nightmare, we had to remove everything from the box so it could fit in my Camry.
Set it up, and it hasn't missed a beat since.

  • arghh did it from my mobile and missed cash rewards!

    Good find OP. thanks.

  • Great price, i already have one or I would buy. Make sure you get a cover to look after it.

Also remember to read the manual/watch the instructional DVD and always cook with the lid down.

    • Newbie warning re BBQ:

With this kind of BBQ (I guess the same with other brands), can you just cover it (any cover OR cover that supplied by the manufacturer?) and leave it outside (hail, rain, sun, winter, summer) without any building cover? (such as covered decking/porch)

OR it is best to put it underneath building cover?

      • +2

        Common sense champ

      • +2

My Weber q is left outside with just the Weber cover and hasn't affected the bbq for about 3 years. Most of the stand is plastic so won't rust. The cover has deteriorated, i.e. it's now very stiff and will likely need to be replaced in a year or so.

I do plan to eventually put it undercover so I don't need a bbq cover. Hope my experience helps.

  • Was instore Friday night and they had signs offering 20% off all Weber as part of the weekend deals. So if you are undecided, I'm pretty sure this deal will end tonight.

Most overpriced item you can purchase, Weber is just a money-hoarder.

Yes they got good quality products, but expect to spend another $200 on REALLY NECESSARY "accessories".

We bought the Baby Weber at one point from BBqs Galore, and had to buy the Trolley/Cart because somehow placing a BBQ Griller on ankle level floor seems to them as standard Then we bought a Hot plate ($50), and some cleaning products and BBQ brush.

So picture this, imagine buying a good quality car with no windscreen wipers, taillights, and door handles, you can drive it still…

    • Yes, weber are over priced compared to other similar bbqs which come with the stand already, but they have good parts back-up and that is important for some people.

The Q3000 is the sweet spot as it comes with the stand included, but it's normally $700, the Q1000, Q2000 stand is extra $170. Some people who are short of space buy the Q1000, Q2000 and don't want a stand as they have table.

The Siegler and Brown from BBQs galore isn't much cheaper than weber.

Aldi have a Q2000 lookalike in their catalogue … would cook the same , but parts would be an issue down the track, so it's priced for hard waste collection rather than repair.

Seems insane that this thing doesnt have a temperature gauge though.

    • yeah, it's how they differentiate the 3200 (higher lid and thermometer) which is only sold via selected "premium" dealers. The Q's are aluminium, so you can drill a hole and fit one.

      • +1

The Q's are aluminium, so you can drill a hole and fit one.

HAHAHA that's after spending over $500 u still need to bastardise it

  • Good deal, but probably worth waiting for a 20% off Ebay deal which should take it below $600 from somewhere.
I think I should stop holding my breath for a repeat of that 50% off BBQs eBay code from a couple of years back. Ah the memories.

  • I thought all the Weber fan boys were a bit over the top with the praise of the Weber's until I got my Q3200 a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic BBQ! I had a Beefeater for 20 year and I thought it was a good BBQ. It was, but the Weber is better for me and has given me more confidence in what I will BBQ.

I friend of mine has the Q3100 and drilled a hole in the lid to fit the temperature gauge. Works well.
