Warranty and Second Hand Telstra Pixels

Hi Folks,
With the recent telstra pixel deals I'm seeing a lot of them being offloaded, and I'm considering purchasing one. But I also want to make sure I got the 2 year Australian warranty that goes with it.

It looks like with Telstra you can look up the warranty status using the IMEI on their website. Will this be enough if anything arises in the future, or do you really need to have the original purchase paperwork to do with it if you need to use the warranty?

(Yeah and I suppose if there anyone looking to sell theirs to me at a good price and include the warranty stuff let me know).

Thank in advance.

do you really need to have the original purchase paperwork to do with it if you need to use the warranty?

Businesses can ask you for proof of purchase

To use your rights to a repair, replacement or refund you will need to keep the receipt or other type of proof of purchase. Sometimes you may need to provide more than one of these things to support your claim – for example, when a credit card statement does not clearly itemise the product.

It is also a good idea to keep records about any descriptions and promises of how the product or service should appear and work.

Keep receipts in a safe, dry place and take a copy of them if you are worried about fading.

  • Yep that's enough.

Haha I bought a pixel for a bargain$300 last year as the first batch had a call problem where the phone would freeze. I searched the IMEI from that website, printed it out and went to a Telstra store. The guy was talking crap saying you needed an account with them to process warranty. I left and sent it by post directly to the national repair centre. Few days later they called and sent me a new one. Win.
