  • How are the whirlpool washers compared to other brands like Fisher & Paykel and Bosch?

    • Fisher & Paykel were bought out by Haier, and Bosch sometimes makes their things in Turkey. There are still German-made Bosch products though.

      Edit: Upvoted for good deal.

Thanks for replying, but that doesn't really answer my question.

Well Facebook is a social media site, while Twitter is also a social media site. I hope this clarifies your query.

        • @Putnum:

Yes… and then you have people who have not bothered to read the instructions, just press a button and then complain why it's not working. You can read hilarious comments in productreview just about anything. If they were serious about being a good product review site then they should have a questionnaire of some sort, like have you read the manual, or is it just that you expected it to have a blue light instead of orange and that's why you don't like it. Humans are very funny beings, they might 'like' something this morning it could change to 'hate' by the afternoon leaving bad feedback for a trivial thing.

        • @bargainparker: I read a good one this morning actually. Someone bought a tower fan and their kid knocked it over and it broke.. so they only gave it 3 stars with a negative being that it breaks when it gets smashed on the floor by a kid.

        • Well, it comes down to how much you rate manufacturing processes in different countries.

I thought that bit was implied, but okay.

Would come down to $437 for those of us in qld (with Qld government rebate). Good deal

Thats exactly what I was just looking at also but still waiting on the QLD rebate to happen. https://www.qld.gov.au/community/cost-of-living-support/abou…

I was tossing up between this one and the Samsung https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-85kg-front-load-washe… so with this saving definitely appears the winner.

My Electrolux just stopped working, water supply issue and the call out plus repair is in the excess of $300 so not worth it.

      • I'd stay away from Samsung given their previous track record of burning down houses with their faulty washers. Sure they may have improved their product and QC but (IMO) it's not worth the risk.

Ended up picking up the Whirlpool. Even though its the same holding size of my Electrolux the WP looks like a small device. But does what I want it to so not going to complain.

        • @2stroksmokr: let us know what you think, I’ve ordered one but won’t be able to pick it up for a few weeks. Do let us know how you get on with it

Theres a govt. rebate to wear clean clothes??
Is there a similar incentive in Vic?

      • +2

$200 for a 4 star energy rated washing machine

      • Which made me think. Bread is gst exempt. It is not a luxury item therefore no gst on it. Yet we have to wear clothes in public. Therefore if it is just a no name brand it should be exempt and if you want a designer clothing then yes, you pay gst just like for a flavoured milk.

Now if you really feel adventurous you could always boycott the government. Go out naked and claim until they stop charging gst on simple clothing items, you will not wear anything.

        • Or alternatively be like the farm out in WA, he created his own country and told the government he doesn't need to pay GST. Think last time I checked he owed 2mill plus on GST.

        • @2stroksmokr:

he better start thinking about an alternative. Maybe 1 way ticket to Mars.

Looking at the 10kg option for bigger family. Over $1000 with discount applied. Any experience with this machine?

Well apparently Fisher & Paykel were bought out by Haier, and Bosch sometimes makes their things in Turkey. There are still German-made Bosch products though.

Anyone know if I could order this now and delay delivery by one month?

Go to Good Guys store that is out of stock (plenty dont have stock) and order it for pickup and dont pick it up till you are ready. :)

      • Careful with this though. I ordered a fridge via their eBay page (Hisense 610 side by side) and turns out it is on backorder (I only found out as I asked them were it was) for 6 weeks haha.

Luckily I am still at home and am looking to buy a house, so being on backorder works out well for me as it won't take up space in the rents house. Might not work for if it's going to potentially be on backorder.
