Samsung EVO Plus 64GB Micro SD with SD Adapter $36 @ Harvey Norman

710

Good price for Australian stock, can be had cheaper if you order online but delivery will take time and I prefer to make sure I have a genuine product so I don't lose my data.

Managed to get JB HiFi Pitt Street Sydney to price match (they have it for $79).

This is the "EVO plus" which superseded the "EVO+"

which is better the evo plus or evo+? :/

    • evo plus has faster speeds to evo+
Don't know why evo+ is more expensive?

  • Oh my, these newer EVO Plus cards have even worse (slower) random write speed than the older EVO + cards, only 1.15MB/s vs 3.9MB/s. The older orange EVO cards have better random write speed than both at 32.0MB/s.

  • So one is (reading the labels) "Evo plus sign", and the other is just "Evo Plus"?

Nothing confusing about that. I'm quite confident that if I asked my mum to by the evo plus, she wouldn't buy the evo+. No one is that retarded.

Oh wow, my phone actually had retarded in the dictionary. That's a win.

      • The amount of sarcasm in here is too dam high!

I actually don't know whether he's being serious or not lol

  • Is this card suitable for GoPro Hero 5 Black Edition or I need to get SanDisk Extreme? Just recently got my GoPro 5 from Xmas but haven’t bought the memory card. Any suggestion?

    • Also i wanna ask if this would be suitable for dash cams eg; viofo. Thanks in advance!

      • +1

Yes I have got these same cards in my Viofo A119S and A118C dashcams. Work well without problems since I have had them for the last few years. Bear in mind for dashcams due to the high read write cycles, they will fail in time (unless buying High Endurance cards that are much more expensive).

        • I concur, my orange EVO card recently died after 2 years of dashCam usage

    • Yes it is. I have the same card in my go pro hero 5 black.

  • $35 with free shipping in Metropolitan Areas https://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/samsung-64gb-evo-plus-u…

    • Grey stock.

Is this any good for the Viofo 119 dash cam? Keep getting conflicting views on it.

  • I am looking one for my new canon 80D. What is the best option?
Is it worth buying 64GB for a camera?

    • Raw photos will be around 25-30MB, so you'll get a bit over 2000 on this card. JPG I think would be about 6MB? So maybe 8000 on the card. Depends how many photos you want to take.

    • Also, if you want to do a bit of videoing on it, you may even want a larger card.

  • Anyone know if these are any good for the Switch?

    • I use one of these for my Switch, I haven't had any problems.
I got a 256GB one, which is probably over-kill, given games bought on cartridges cannot be installed to microSD.

      • Cool, load times ok?

        • +1

I didn't do a comparison between between internal storage and microSD load times, but I did a few quick tests.
Not sure how these compare to internal or other microSDs, but here are a few load times:

Switch home screen to Stardew Valley main menu (including the short animation): 49 seconds
Stardew Valley main menu to game loaded: 26 seconds

Switch home screen to Snipper Clips main menu: 31 seconds
Snipper Clips level load time: 8-9 seconds.

Both Snipper Clips and Stardew Valley were completely closed (not running in background) for Switch home screen to game menu test.

        • @O15: cheers, love your work

This may or may not be of any help.
Benchmark of some of my microSD cards:

Keep in mind the varying capacities, which will effect performance. Not sure at what point increased capacity stops benefiting performance, however.

Nice, got a price match at JB Hifi.

  • I bought 5 at HN. They had the Evo+ marked at $36 (down from $79.95) and nothing written on the Evo Plus ($79), but they scanned at $36.

  • Thanks OP! Officeworks was sold out but JB price matched. :)
