  • Most of these are about $1-$1.50 everyday at your local indian grocer/supermarket (if you live near one).

Google cache also shows the prices have been inflated for the sake of the 'sale/coupon' and marketing on OzB. Eg normally $1.99 changed to $3.50

The free shipping is good though.

      Hello MrRevhead,
I sincerely apologise if you felt that we inflated the price of the products, but I can assure you that isn’t the case.
We are very new to this small business and at the very beginning we didn’t work out our import costs properly and hastily posted the products for sale. We also are new to the ecommerce settings and also were confused with the sale/discount prices which created some issues, though as far as I remember we never had these at $1.99 and we earlier had per manufacturer discount and hence they were ‘discounted’ directly to $1.99 from their full price. I’m sure if you have a look at the Google cache you will see it was still the ‘discounted price’.
We are trying to get people to try these and hence these sales. Technically with product cost and shipping charges, we are losing a lot of money on these sales.
Our products are also very different to the normal Indian spices you get in ethnic stores that you mentioned. These are ‘ready-to-cook’ ones which has a lot more ingredients (hence more expensive) in it and are much, much easier to cook with than those generic ones.
We are not making any excuses, we’ve made our share of mistakes and are still learning from our mistakes from comments like yours.
      Thank you

      • A well thought out, justificated reply.

Time will tell whether the above is true (and returning customers will now know) re: retail price in monitoring your website (I have noticed you have 'suddenly' ammended it) to reflect your response above.

        Let's cut to the chase….

Despite your claim to 'ready-to-cook', as I stated, the brands you stock are available for your so called 'sale price' or less. I live in a heavily populated Indian demographic area in Sydney and know this as fact after purchasing such items from such grocers.

Your line about your 'brands' being 'different' is invalid, as national, shan's, mothers etc offer similar lines within the price range as stated for the same products and recipes. Stop misleading people for marketing purposes.

Re: your price mishap, please entertain yourself with the following screen shots that you have amended within the last couple of hours (conveniently). You wouldn't have amended them without a valid reason (maybe my previous reply?).

        https://i.imgur.com/h3zrPtm.jpg

Don't put it down to the easy justication of 'confusion' of an ecommerce system etc

If you plan to post on OzBargain, be prepared to be scrutinised if needed based on 'promotions' as members here look in-depth for such promoted 'bargains'.

I had previously acknowledged the postage was a good deal. But I do not approve of your false justication trying to cover your tracks on misleading the public on your deal with the main motive of marketing.

Nothing wrong with marketing well, but do it ethically.

          Hello again,
Thank you for posting the screenshots as it confirms the statement I made was in fact CORRECT! The original price on these screenshots are exactly the same as the present ones, earlier they were simply individually discounted manufacturer wise, whereas now the discount is even higher and SITEWIDE, hence through a coupon code. Maybe I can teach a few things about ecommerce platforms! Nothing got suddenly amended, no false justification, but I guess you’ve made up your mind and have a lot of time to try and prove people wrong, but whatever makes you happy.
We’re not from Sydney and not everyone lives there. We did our due deligence as much as we could and even if that wasn’t god enough, not every wrong statement is a ‘lie’ or an ‘evil plot’ to mislead people (well if we are trying to mislead customers by giving out stock at a loss, then we have bigger things to worry about!), but there are a lot of such things that many don’t understand, it’s okay.
Time will tell, yes that I completely agree with! As far as change in product pricing is concerned, you’ve proven above by your own screenshots that we didn’t ‘manipulate’ prices, but, apparently cost prices and selling prices do change sometimes for businesses - surprise!
We ARE ethical and we I do plan to post in the future and well aware of the difference between scrutiny and trolling on online forums. We welcome constructive criticism and embrace it, but pity I have for the latter, time I don’t.
I tried my best on this discussion by being as nice as humanly possible, but seems I just wasted a lot of time here, hence don’t need any further responses.
          Goodbye and a have a great 2018!

  • I quite liked the free one these guys were sending out a few months ago and there's no Indian grocer near me, so this is still a decent deal. Good research on the cache though!

    • Thank you so much for your feedback on our spices ttfb, we really appreciate it :-)
Please see my comment on the pricing issue, and apologise if anyone got the impression we were inflating our prices. We are actually sending these out at loss just so that people can try them and understand how good they actually are :-(

  • We dont get these brands in north Brisbane and the free one last time was really good so ordering more now. But yeah the manipulation in the prices has become a norm during sale.

    • +1

From the look of their website they are based in Warner (ie north Brisbane)

      • Yes we are :-)

      • good catch mate, didnt realise they were right next door!

    • Hello joshmachine,
We are based out of North Brisbane, please PM me and we can look at your regular needs and supplying to shops near you so that you can buy them directly from there.
Also, please see my comment above about the price manipulation issue. We sincerely apologise if you felt that was the case.
      Kind Regards

      • How about supplying them to Carseldine or PM me a pickup address and I can come over as the need arises.

Try the Monika's paste available at Coles. Cheap, lasts for multiple cooks (4-10 depending on serving size and desired strength) and better than most restaurants.

      Regularly comes down to $2.50

  • Looks interesting - do you have access to the nutritional information on these? Need low salt (sodium) content dishes for my partner.

    • Will have a look and let you know, but since all of them have salt added already, I honestly don’t think it would be suitable for your partner :-(

      • Thanks 😁

        • +1

Kadai was high in salt, but my god it tasted good lol

        • @Slippery Fish: salt tastes so good, but you do adjust to a low salt diet over a few weeks and then not notice it very much afterwards.

        • Dear 3, I've made a few queries and it seems none of our spices will be suitable for a low sodium diet unfortunately :-(

        • @OzNewB: thanks for making the effort regardless

their shop smells like teen spirit

    • -1

      more like Hareem's spirit

  • Hope spicy are these as supplied?

I am the white guy that everyone jokes about when they joke about white guys not being able to handle spicy food. Like at all.

I wish they'd make the water from the fridge a bit less spicy….

Ok, not quite that bad but I don't like my tongue to burn at all.

    Thanks in advance

      Dear brentsbits,
Loved your comment, we need more people like you here! Now that I’ve stopped smiling, let me get to your question…
Our spices are created as authentic as possible, so yes most of them will be too spicy for you (I know because I have quite a few friends like you). Saying that, there are some like the Lemon Herb Chicken, Creamy Chicken, Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala, Shahi Paneer, Matar Paneer, Daal Fry etc. that would be worth a try. Some emember that you can use Chicken in all the Paneer dishes too, and while cooking if you still find it a bit spicy, just add a little extra cream and a sprinkle of sugar and reduce the amount of spice next time.
      Hope that helps :-)
      Warm Regards

  • Hi, these are all spice mixes. I have never heard of any of them, but they are probably fine. Have you considered supplying less commonly available spices as well? Excited about a few things on your site, but they're already out of stock.

    • Dear ladybug1,
We do only deal with spice mixes and not really generic/single spices at present (though we may venture into that too later).
Unfortunately quite a few spices did sell out after we posted this sale, we didn’t expect that huge a response. Our next consignment should be in soon, so please check later if you want (or just create an account and subscribe to newsletter and you will get notified). If you want do please try some of the available ones…
      Thank you

  • Thanks for the deal! I've ordered a whole bunch (~32) - no idea what most of them are, but I'm really excited to try all of the different flavours. Shipping came to $4.95 for me rather than the $3 capped shipping that the post states. FYI you might want to update your banner on the website @OzNewB as it still says free shipping.

Looking forward to making some yummy dishes!

      Dear MynyMouqe,
Thank you for ordering and pointing out the omissions, we have corrected them now!
You’ve ordered quite a varied mix, some are quite simple and some need a bit more effort (like Biryani). Of course I’d advice you to try them out, and if at anytime you need any assistance or tips, simply email us or call us (all details are on our website) and we will be more than happy to guide you through :-)
      Hope you enjoy your spices!
      Kind Regards

      • Thanks - I do have quite a varied taste, thought I'd more or less just pick one of everything and give it a go LOL!

        • +1

😂 Sounds like a foolproof plan, have fun with them, experiment and sway away from recipes if you may…

  • Good deal, but if you want to save on shipping and want to try out a mix, then they are often on half price at coles and Woolies. For example…. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/780867/str…

    • Dear paul11,

Appreciate your efforts in finding a great deal for our OzB members :-)

I have tasted this one (and many others) personally but never liked any of the 'sauce' versions, but of course that's my personal opinion. If you've had this one, and willing to make a comparison (or anyone reading this and wishes to), I will be more happy to send you ours completely free! You can provide a brutally honest review for everyone to read, and compare the two based on factors of your liking (like ease of use, value, freshness, taste etc.).

A couple of notable differences between these spices:

      1. Street Kitchen is $5 compared to ours at $3.50 (but since ours will need an extra can of diced tomatoes, an accurate comparison would increase our price to $4.10).
      2. Our give you double the number of serves compared to theirs.

      Kind Regards

Well having had the Banne Nawabs Nawabi biryani yesterday i must say it was awesome. Minimal effort as vouched by my wife and amazing taste compared to shaan mdh or passage to india. Word of caution it is spicy for an Indian living overseas.

    • Thank you so much joshmachine, this means a lot to us!

I've lived in Biryani heavens of India and love that dish to bits and try and make it at home whenever possible. The only issue was it is so cumbersome a process and many things can go wrong and easy to forget some steps/ingredients. The UBN spices make the entire process amazingly easy and the flavour is very authentic, and knowing it doesn't come from added MSG/artificial flavourings etc. (like some other similar spice mixes) it makes it even better.

Yes they can be a bit spicy as they are quite authentic in that sense, and not watered down versions, and I've personally found that the spiciness can be reduced a bit by adding less amount of the spice mix, adding extra cream, bit of honey/sugar etc. depending on the dish being made :-)

      Thank you once again!

  • Feedback after trying a couple: very nice, very impressed with the taste!

Small niggles with the order… it's slightly annoying when it says that the shipping is capped to $4.50 and I was charged $4.95, and when it says that the order will include free promo packs and then doesn't. Slight niggles, but honest feedback.

    • Dear MynyMouqe,

Thank you so much for your feedback :-)

We sincerely apologise for the postage price hiccup you faced, and for the free promo packs. We sent those to everyone who requested them through a PM, but I will now send some your way and also refund the extra shipping you paid! If you could please PM your order number or name for us to find your order.

Please let us know how you go with the other spices, and if you need any assistance at all. Once again, we love honest feedback, it helps us keep the great ones and discontinue the not-so-good ones from our store.

      Warm Regards
