Anyone heard good/bad things about this monitor? Seems like a decent price for G-SYNC 2K screen.

It's TN not IPS so there's that to consider.

Is there such thing as IPS and g-sync?

Any time a monitor is advertised as "gaming" they always prioritize that 1ms or 2ms response over the nicer viewing angles of IPS.

        • It's more common in 1440p monitors, but yes IPS and G-Sync is very much a thing. I use a XB270HU that does both for example.

        • @enceladus94: Seems pricey. And discontinued. Probably explains why it's pricey.

Is there a 24" version at QHD with IPS and GS?

        • @lostn: My model was replaced with an updated version XB271HU, same panel but different design.

Afaik IPS is mostly 27", think all of Acer's 24" are TN

I've got the 27" version. It's unreal, no flaws or problems. The best looking TN panel I've seen. The out of the box settings are pretty garbage but I uses picture adjustment I found on Amazon and the colours are so much better.

  • Can't wait for 144hz at 4k…please time move forward quickly so I don't have to upgrade in steps…

    • You'll need a serious rig to make the most of that. Might not even exist yet.

      • It doesn't, hence my ennui

  • Will a GTX 1080 (or even Ti) even be able to run most games at this resolution and hz?

    • Depends on the game. For some, definitely. I don't know if you'll get 165 fps though.

      • Yeah not sure why a monitor like this even exists if the hardware to support it dors not really exist. You have to compromise

        • On a 1080 turning a few things below Ultra you'll get about 135fps at this res in Overwatch

        • Future proofing I guess.

Much of the things in the electronics and computer industry are not needed yet but might some day.

SATA3 was overkill when all we had was mechanical drives for example. But when SSDs became common it bottlenecked the SSDs.

Some day 165fps at 4K will be a piece of piss, but around that time, people may have moved onto 8k or 16k.

        • @bertiness: yep but usually you need quite a bit above 165fps so avoid any stuttering etc

Using my 120hz monitor under 120fps feels terribad

  • …thought this was a qfhd monitor for a second and at that price does look quite attractive….

Highly recommend this monitor, currently running it with a 1070 and it works well. Only issue with the monitor is that it has pretty bad colour banding. Not entirely noticeable if you are playing fast paced games, but media doesn't look particularly great on it.

    • What sorts of FPS are you getting on this resolution? I assume you can't maintain 165hz?
