…..Well this is the dodgiest post I have seen in a while…..Do you need to know how to set up an offshore bank account too?

  • I believe the digital weighing ones also have the capacity to count coins too

    • IMO OP should probably get 2 different scales, ones for coins and 1 for notes. Scales for coins will have less decimal places, but will take more coins. i.e. 1 50c piece is the equivalent in weight to 17 $10 notes.

I assume the scales just take the total weight and divide by the weight of the a single note.

how the bloody hell you reach this stage where you need your own machine.. you don't belong to this site..

I can imagine though, doing the cash count / cashup at the end of the day for a business / small business can be a total drag when you need to close shop

    • Don't Ozbargainers use only plastic cards?

    are you a drug dealer?

my friend uses one of these:

Is your friend a drug dealer?

    • Not sure if joking or worse but:

This kind of counting machine did not work for us. Got jammed virtually every time.
      Total fail.

We got our money back … the money we paid for it, that is!

Wipe the powder off the scales before weighing money. It'll be a little more accurate ;)

      don't you mean lick?

      • That's a better idea! ;)

      • Snot..

  • I run a note-counting business…send them to me and I'll do you a roolly cheap deal :P

  • for all we know OP might be counting pesos from his business partners in Columbia. you would need a machine to count those notes

yeah all that cash from selling those columbian headphones for wedding gifts right?

      • Colombian. It is spelt Colombian

          Pedirle peras al olmo …

  • Do you need to buy some rubber bands and rat bait?

Why are you guys giving this guy a hard time? Any small business would need one of these for end of day till reconciliation

  • Banks use scales these days. I was there the other day.

  • +1 for the scales.

Works on polymer Australian notes (so no Euros, no Pesos, no drugs, no bitcoins, no smart_Alec) on their new edition and also current. Also current Australian coins.
    An amazing device.
Got mine from eBay. Brand says "Money Counter", p/n 049822-124. Runs on 9V battery or PS. Made in China. No further details.

One obvious disadvantage: coins and bank notes (currency) has to be of the same denomination. Otherwise "weights" a 100 as a 50 note.

  • Doubters - I have a friend who owns an amusement machine business and in his peak times, he had loads of coins to count before banking. The banks refuse to do it. They used to just weigh his prepared bags.

His business is suffering now as people do not spend money in those as much.
