  • No parking mode is disappointing at that price.

    • At $114, which does?

KPT-900, and the last deal for it was under $80. This one doesn't seem great value to me since it doesn't even come with a LCD screen.

        • nice. I didnt know there was parking mode in the 900. will wait for a deal for that one then

it's called 'discreet' for a reason and you can live-view from your phone

It's great that you've decided that all dashcams without LCDs aren't good enough for everyone.

        • Why do you want a giant LCD screen on the back? Do you have to view it everytime you start the car?

          @Orpheus:
The LCD makes it easy to access the menu on the fly.

      • A119s have parking mode.

    • i think you need battery type for parking mode.

this runs supercaps , no battery for 45deg summer

      • That is supposed to be a plus point. The Capacitors donot heat up and do not explode. The heat craps the Memory card as well leading to more failures.

got one of these a few deals ago. Hasn't skipped a beat, and a great picture. Happy with it for what I need.

  • Definitely worth buying it, have already bought 3 of these :)

  • How good is this one?
There are lots of cheap ones and there's the Xiaomi one that's $36.18 that I'm considering too.
This will be my first dashcam so I don't know much with regards to the quality (build, video, image, etc.)

Also read about the heat during hot days, not sure if that's a huge issue considering I'm in Melbourne.

HEAT no issues as i Can see you are at freezingpoint :)

Using a Xiaomi 1st gen dashcam for over a year now. No problem at all even above 40 degree C temp (could be 70 degree inside the car after an hour parking under the sun). For the price, I'd rather get 3 Xiaomi dashcam.

      • I got the old xiaomi dashcam too. it's super clear. is your dashcam gray color too? I don't know why they made gray one. it stands out. I used to park my car on the street at work. I don't have temp issue.

        • I have one 360 (Brand Name) installed for almost 3 years already. I never paid for parking, which means always under the sun, no problem at all.

  • Super Capacitor

Super Capacitor - saving the cost by removing battery?

      • Saving the risk of fire or ruined device from hot conditions by removing the battery.

        • As far as I know, reputable batteries could stand at least 75C+ (167F). Tesla (Panasonic Batteries) could stand at least 100C.

  • How does this Mount on

  • I've got one of these, they're pretty good. App is great with the device however the video footage suffers from the low bitrate. With raw footage, number plates are visible (sometimes it's a struggle) but sample videos on YouTube are impossible (just a heads up if you're using that for sample footage). My Viofo A119S has better footage but the Kapture is just more well made and easy to use via phone.
