Door Bell Assistance

Hi Fellow penny pinchers,

Hoping to get some door bell advice, and think I may get better information here, than if I asked a retailer.

Looking to purchase 2 door bells, for two different doors at either end of the house.

I would like to get the following functionality:

1) Both of the 2 door bell speakers makes a noise when either of the 2 door bells are pressed.
2) Each door bell have a different chime, so I know which door to run to.

I am thinking that point 2 may be the tricky part.

Just looking for common cheap door bells at this stage. The ring ones seem too expensive, though I have seen generic wifi ones on ebay for around the $60 mark.

I am thinking just the cheapo ones at Bunnings or similar.

Any help appreciated!

    2) tell guests two knocks for front and three for back. Problem solved.

      Now that is tight.

But looking for a high tech approach.

Knocking on a door is so 2017's.

High tech approach - tell people to text you that they are visiting and which door they'll go to.

  • Edit. Sorry i read your 1st question wrong.

Why don't you just get 2 separate doorbells and place one at the front and one at the back. adjust each doorbell to sound different by tuning it on the back of the remote.

    • The way I see it, having each doorbell speaker sound different is the easy part.

Getting the speaker to make a different sound depending on which door bell is pressed is the challenge.

My guess is that the chime is set in the speaker piece itself.

  • I bought this Honeywell off Amazon a few years ago and is still working fine. Although I only needed one door bell but this has the option of adding up to 6 bells or window sensors. Read the questions answered by people as they mentioned a similar scenario as yours.

Hi Samia, thanks for the suggestion.

It appears that your model has been replaced by the series 9. Reviews are favorable.

  • We have the same sort of setup, two doors, two different chimes, works very well.
Our solution was two Arlec wireless plug in units: https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-high-gloss-finish-plug-in-…

You just perform the pairing process for the second button. The chime sound is selectable using a tiny button inside the button unit, and is remembered by the button unit.
If you want multiple speaker units too, that is also possible with a bit of fiddling.
The only issue is that the speaker unit tends to forget the second button when it loses power.
