What Is Your Favourite Pho Store?

Pho Ngon in Hornsby
Pho Hoang in Springvale (Melbourne)
You really should go to VN to have truly great pho.
i have.
Did it change your perception of pho here?
The Pho in Sydney is very similar to Vietnam. Only difference is the vegies, much more plentiful in VN.
Actually the beef is even better in Australia
Any in cabramatta. Tasted the same to me.
Just no… Pho shouldn't taste the same, then the pho your eating probably has artifical flavours.
its just me, i cant really tell the difference. all pho in cabramatta all tastes yummy to me. in other places i can tell if they are so-so
Phở Hùng Vương in Springvale, Melbourne and Phở Lệ in Saigon :)
Any one have Brissy/goldie picks? I don't think I have had Pho or Bô in gold coast, always get Bô though. Don't think I have had a slow cooked and authentic one yet. Is the one in the corner of market square sunnybank authentic or ben's in woolongabba?
Trangs in Brisbane is my fav. Other people seem to rate Cafe O'mai. Pretty bad imo though.
I've been there in 2009. Good servings compared to other ones in West end from memory. I just remembered AJ's Vietnamese noodle house in charlotte street as being good.
Once upon a time, Pho Dzung used to be the best in VIC. They had shops in Box Hill, Springvale, City, Richmond, and Footscray.
I don't know what happened to them but only two left I know, City and Richmond and neither were as good.
Instead, we now have what I think to be wanna-bees like Mama Pho, I love Pho, Rolled, etc.
I can understand how these joint succeed (they are blossoming everywhere) despite serving less than half of what Pho Dzung or others serve.
But I feel really sad at the demise of the old school Pho-s.

I still like Pho Dzung, but I do agree with your assessment of some of the new comers. I would love other people's recommendations for the Melbourne inner city. I don't want to have to travel all the way to Box Hill for Pho.
willing to go footscray or richmond?
Richmond, definitely.
Adelaide: It's almost impossible to go wrong in the Arndale/Kilkenny region if you go to a place well patronised by Vietnamese. A particular favourite of mine is Khang's Noodles.
Sydney: Similar with Cabramatta, plenty of options that are all good depending on your taste. Otherwise Tan Viet Noodle House in Eastwood (prepare to line up) and a little less traditional but Madame Nhu in Surry Hills always has delicious broth.
I personally think Khang's Noodles has gone downhill ever since the renovations, prices gone up and the taste is just not like before. Their hospitality remains good on the contrary

Vietnamese friends pronounced to a bit more like fer, to my untuned ear.
At home cooked by my Vietnamese wife :) or in saigon at a little Shop around the corner from my inlaws place.
Lucky you :)
Just as well you are in Wellington or I would be asking if you have enough for all of us.
Haha :)
Honestly the nearest one to me. Haven't had a really bad pho store. But when I was younger any place in Bankstown or Parramatta was the bomb.
Some of my personal favourites;
Pho Ann - Cabramatta
Pho Tau Bay - Cabramatta
Pho An - Bankstown
Pho Lam - Canley HeightsBonus Round
Bun Bo Hue: Sinh Phu - Canley HeightsSecond that. Pho Tau Bay Cabramatta and Pho An Bankstown. Thanh Binh in Bankstown and Ha Noi Quan Campsie gets an honourably mention
Pho An (Bankstown, Sydney) cause its the closest and supposedly cleanest lol
role of thumb for authentic Asian restaurant; More clean = less tasty LOL
@esty hahaha too funny!
Also theres a common theme that the bigger the Vietnamese community, the better the Pho
I have only eaten pho at Nam An Vietnamese in Tweed City shopping centre other then in Vietnam direct. To be honest it was not so great and the price just about killed me… after purchasing it in Vietnam for under $1.00 AU then to have to pay $17.00 for a terrible bowl of Pho was ridiculous and it was very watery.
Thanh Thanh on Field St (off Gouger St)
