  • really, didn't know dominos shrunk their pizzas?

    • +1

Yes they keep shrinking their pizzas every couple of months.

      • +5

If they keep shrinking at that rate you won't get any pizza in 2 years. just go to Dominos, pay for it & come back with an empty pizza box.

    • +1

They got rid of the Chef's Best range and replaced all the old pizzas, (pre- New Yorker), with new premium range pizzas where the diameter has reduced. They use the new size pans/bases for the value and traditional range now too. The New Yorker pizzas have new pans they had to order in as well.

Happened in July, but maybe not rolled out to all stores yet.

I measured the old and new boxes and uploaded a picture…

      • Dominos has two different box in your picture above, is the smaller box for value and the slightly bigger one for traditional or premium? Secondly is the pizza hut's pizza really bigger despite having a bigger box?

        • The difference is so small I thought Value/traditional/premium are all the same. Then the new yorkers are the bigger ones

      • thanks for your hard work, you're a god among men.

      • Can we really judge the size of a pizza by its box? Every time I get Dominos, the pizza always covers around 50% of the box area.

    Way better than domino's <3

WOW PIZZA HUT HAS NEVER HAD THESE KIND OF DISCOUNT IN WHAT FELT LIKE MORE THAN A DECADE!!

    • +3

What happened to the 50% off coupons pizza hut had every week for 1-2 months back in 2017?

  • +1

Is this limited to one pizza only or unlimited?

    • I seem to only be able to apply it to one pizza :/

  • +3

Search Pizza hut on Google and click the first link turn out to be Domino's. Pizza hut second. Bizzarre. Yes it was ad.

    • +1

This is why I hate google adwords. They will give anyone priority in a search provided you'll pay enough.

  • How big are these ? 40cm diameter ?

  • I had a bag experience with my local store. I can’t go back :( just really unhygienic. I had to wait outside while waiting for my pizza cause it stunk so bad. I like Pizza Hut I’ve had in other places though, their selection is quite good.

You got me wondering … what happened ?

      • +1

There was only one girl working in there who looked around 12, she was probably 15 though. Anyway she had long hair and was making my pizza without a hair net. The floor was gross, the place smelt like off food and BO. I’ve just found out there’s another Pizza Hut 15 minutes from my house so I’ll be going there instead.

        • +1

          Anyway she had long hair

          Tell me more ;p

There should be a site to name and shame and request health/ food safety inspection. . But i haven't used in about a decade. . So cant remember the name Maybe someone on ozbargain knows?

        • @Triton: I wanna know too!

    • +1

      yeah man…what happened?

      • As above

        • -1

          yeah but … what happened?

  • +3

Ordering is a bit tricky. It allows 30% off for first pizza then the next pizza is not 30% off - thus I need to checkout one pizza and do checkout again for another pizza.

    • if it's franchise owned, be prepared for dirty looks..

      • I've done this - ordered multiple pizzas separately to get the discount on each one (usually just two in total).

The franchisee has never cared - I assume because

        1) I'm not doing this at peak times
        2) it's only ever a couple of pizzas

I figured the difference for them between having any kind of order at all vs none.. they'd rather be making the pizzas since they have to pay for the staff, store and so on whether orders are coming through or not.

These coupons are great because they take a $8 pizza and buy the time you add a topping (and then put the discount back on) it keeps it at $8.

$16 (plus a 8km round trip) - for dinner for two.. plus lunch the next day ? not bad value..

Yeah, I know it's good value. It's such good value I was receiving sour/judging looks from the obviously family-owned franchise near my place that's often quiet, situated next to a bustling dominos.

I had the mindset 'surely some business > none', but it prompted me to look into Hut franchisees after that feeling that this wasn't ok with them, and I remember reading something about a lawsuit as they were having to sell pizzas at under cost and were having to close, businesses going under due to the floundering war vs dominos/gourmets. I dunno what the current reality of the situation is, but it seems a bit much to abuse the coupon situation that they're groaning over, at least if it's a family-owned. Hell, at my local they sometimes have the daughter's kid quietly playing at the back… so I stopped and even throw them a bone with a second pizza or side if I'm on the fence about leftovers. When we see great pizza coupons advertised it's like, "jackpot", but for the owners I imagine each suprise is a punch in the gut.

If it's not franchisee owned and staffed by teens who could care less then fair game I guess, hustlers gonna hustle. But one way or another abusing the system is only going to swiften our journey to Dominos being the only 'cheap' pizza left, which they can't wait for to jack those prices.. it's already happening. Cheap food for thought.

        • @zwolf: tell me more! :0

  • honey I shrunk the pizzas xD

  • Havent had Pizza Hut for a very long time. Ordered a couple & it's tasted much better than those salty cardboard Dominos. I don't mind paying few extra bucks for quality & satisfying dinner, I would be sleeping happy tonight. Wish for more voucher like this.

    Thanks OP.

    • Dude, BBQ Beef & Onion @ Doms for 5 dollarydoos! I never lose!

Funny because the Pizza Hut near me is atypical to cardboard than my nearest dominoes

      • The quality variation between stores is pretty crazy. Dominos near us is woeful. The nearest pizza hut used to be really good (the pizzas actually looked like the ones in the ads somehow!), but I think the owners changed, and since then they are on par with Dominos…maybe slightly better.

  • Thanks op
