If you're child is 3years + I would recommend to pay the $7 extra and get the Highway freak.

    http://www.rebelsport.com.au/Product/Highway-Freak-Scooter-B…

It has the adjustable handle bar also but it has a better build quality.

Excellent recommendation. In keeping with the true OzBargain spirit, I guess I'm heading back to Rebel tomorrow to pick up a 'Freak' for when my Little Miss turns 3 in a year.

    • Os the highway freak for 3 and above our son turns 2 on feb but im not sure if he is ready for this sort of item could get the highway freak one and stick it aside for next xmas or next yrs birthday, but what age group is the other one on this post for.not sure if to grab this or not is it a good deal as the normal price from rebel is not much more normally.

    • Damn..just bought the baby before this message appears. I prefer the highway now. I thought the baby one should be ok because it can take max 50kg. Maybe i'll just refund this on the pickuo day.

    • If they were 3+ they wouldnt be needing a balance bike tho?

      • My 2.5 year old is too small for his balance bike so he will be using it well after he turns 3.

Thank you. For Melbourne people, Centrepoint store (Bourke St mall) has some available for click and collect. Green / blue.

  • Thanks!

Going off the specs I would say stick with the highway baby as in the ride mode (being only a 2 wheeled scooter - might not get much use in scooter mode for now), the kids feet need to touch the ground being a balance bike. The highway freak has a higher body and seat height.

These were $170 once upon a time and the original sticker price at rebel is $150.
Very good value for a diverse product.

I got this for my 4 year old when we went away to a holiday park..we got heaps of comments from alot of parents and kids.

  • Good work OP! Think I missed out on these last time they were on sale at Harvey Norman! Stoked my local has them for click and collect. If the blue/red one is out of stock, check the other colour! I got the yellow/pink one for my daughter :)

    thanks. brought 3.

    • +5

Where did you bring them to?

  • thanks OP. Bought a freak.

Enjoy. Now all your fantasies will come true!

  • What is good about these things? A 3 yr old is kinda ready for a bike with pedals? A kid who is 18 months can use the bike bit I guess.

  • Looking for some sports add ons.

  • -2

Does this also have the same 110kph speed limit on a highway?

  • Might want to take your kid in store to check these out, as Rebel don't have a change of mind policy (?) - a 3 year old would have to be in the 90th height-for-age percentile (depending on their inseam measurement) to be able to use the Freak as a balance bike.

    • They do apparently, as long as it is in resalable condition. I've made some change of mind returns at multiple stores in VIC without any troubles. They are actually very courteous handling returns.

  • All my local stores have no stock but was going to use my $50 rebel promo to buy 2 freak ones…post is $30 do you think its worth paying $30 extra for delivery so really in dollar value costing $24 plus $15 post even though im physically only paying $15

    • +1

You can order 200 of them for $199.95 postage, making it less than $1/bike
Then open a bike shop and slowly sell the 199 and probably make a small fortune.

      • He has only $50 promo though.

  • +1

Online price shows $25 for the Baby and $35 for the Freak. AM I missing something?

    • +1

Looks like price back to normal

    • I added a few of this in different colours, and have the price $17.5, then browse around to see if I will buy something else to make the total $150 for free delivery, then come back to the cart (still seeing the price $17.5), clicked Check Out…. magic happened, price Changed to $25…. Then logged in, magic happened again (not switching back to $17.5), showing the Blue/Red colour (picture in Green/Blue) sold out and being asked to remove the item.

Ended up I bought one 1 Pink/White, paid $25 + $14.95 postage. Still good price anyway.

  • Got my email to collect this morning

  • at $25 this is still a great price, as it is $129 at the baby shop (baby shops are such a rip-off). Unfortunately it seems to be sold at every store in the Perth Northern suburbs.

  • I grabbed 2 pink ones and a freak one. One of the pink was a display model. Thanks OP!
Plently of the Freak ones for $35 in Mandurah for those from WA.

  • The website said that there was no stock near me but I checked at my local store this morning and managed to grab the last one. Might be worth checking if it's not too far out of your way.

Don't buy this product….it is unsafe. I purchased the baby and the freak this afternoon. The baby had a broken axle and the freak is only slightly better in quality. They both have lots of plastic and no ball bearings in the axles. The tyres wore out very quickly even for the 30 seconds we tested the freak. The handle bars are not stable and the frame has movement. I am considering reporting this to consumer affairs, I am amazed that they let this manure product into the country, I thought we had strict laws on toys for kids. I have tried to give this a review on the rebel website, however, it won't let me do it. In short, I am extremely dissatisfied with this product and I will never buy anything again from Rebel.

  • Thanks OP. Got the Freak, well made and already has the older kid jealous of the younger one. Love the balance bike feature, easy to switch and extremely handy.
