Been watching these for a while and purchased this model from COTD a few weeks ago for $30 plus $6 or $7 delivery. Thought that was a great price. Good model that works well.

    How does wearing a watch help you fight the battle of the buldge ?

      Hyperbole aside, training with your HR within the optimum fat burning 'zone' will actually help! :)

      • let's hope so… i picked up a Polar HR monitor a few weeks ago…

        i find the most awesome feature is having your heart rate automatically display on the gym equipment… no need to keep looking at your watch…

        • Does this come with a connector that allows for the displaying of Heart Rates on gym equipment?

        • This unit seems to work wirelessly with most gym equipment I've tried.

        From what I've been lead to understand, at lower exercise intensities your body sources a higher percentage of the required energy from fat. However, exercising at higher intensities requires more energy overall, so in absolute terms there might not be a huge difference.

        Unless of course maintaining high intensity exercise is the issue, then yes, you will burn more at a lower intensity.

          Fact is, if you want to target a specific zone, you need to know your heart rate, which is where these devices come in :)

        • Absolutely correct! Different intensities = different metabolic demands = different energy sources metabolised! Hence a brisk walking pace is better for fat burning than a run! ;)

          Knowing your individual target HR for each 'zone' & staying within it will optimise your particular 'goal'; whether that be fat burning, cardio, endurance etc! :)

          That said, there's an old saying that never loses it's relevance: "Sixpacks are made in the kitchen"

        • I've started interval training, so switching between high and low intensity every 10 mins or so for about 60-90 mins…

          At the end of the day jv, whatever you do will work as long as you're smart & consistent! The most common mistake I see is people go for broke too early; instead of starting small & building up, making fitness a part of their life; they make it a painful chore that they do not look forward to.

          Too many folks get a PT & get absolutely flogged in "boot-camp" type workouts in their first week or two. Far too many stupid PTs (not the good ones) think it's ok to have a client vomit after their first workout. They get discouraged, lose motivation/focus & just drop off the radar! The successful ones, however, usually 'walk' before they 'run'!!! :)

  • Been trying to order one, but the stupid website won't accept my delivery address! It has accepted the exact same address in the past which is weird. Have they changed their ordering system in the past 12 months? I think the address is the problem … it says 2 fields need correcting but it won't tell me which ones!

    Also their live chat help thingy is offline … so annoying! Will try again later.

      • Hmm, yeah I do have firefox pop up blocking turned on … very good suggestion! However, I already got impatient and changed the delivery address to my home and it worked fine :)

        Does anyone know if they leave the parcel at your house if you're not home? Or will I have to go get it from the post office?

        • Normally if you're not there they leave a card for PO pickup IME. They need a signature IIRC!

    • Large band will fit any wrist, but the face is on the smaller size.
