NetGear Router (R7000) Halving My Speeds

Hi
So i'm currently in an opticomm area on fibre optic, on a 50/20 plan.
The speeds i'm getting through speed test (wired) are around 10mb download, 19 upload. This is consistent at all times of the day.
I initially thought it was my ISP, so i ran a direct connection to my ONT through my laptop (bypassing the router) and i got download speeds of 48, so now i'm thinking its my router (R7000)?

I have turned off QOS, enabled IPV6, updated to latest official firmware and am still getting the same speeds.

Is there anything else i can do or is it really my router?

Thanks in advance

UPDATE:

I had a rather interesting solution. Below are my tests.

ONT -> Gigabyte Switch -> Router(WAN) -> laptop and am now getting 40+ mb download speeds. Upload speeds have dropped significantly to around 5mbs though. This is what i was getting when i was connecting directly to the ONT.

Once i take out the switch, speeds go back to original (10-15mb download, 20mb upload).

It is really really strange and i dont know how to explain it. I will try this setup and see if the minimal upload affects my gaming.

  • Providers fault

  • Factory reset.
Different Cable on a Different Port OR WIFI.
Different computer (or Tablet/Phone) to test with.

  • I use a Netgear R7000 for 100/1 without issue. If the router is functioning as it's meant to it shouldn't be the issue.

  • Try power cycling your switch & router and try different ports.

  • Under QOS setup menu make sure WMM for 2.4/5ghz is ticked
When I updated the router had to play with MTU setting under WAN Setup
My speed went back to normal after that with with iiNet fttp 100/40 and sync at 95/34 after this

    • Thanks did that for wmm . Also played around with Mtu and using dos command prompt said best size was 1492. Alas no difference unfortunately

  • Have you tried turning it on and off again?

    • First thing I did

      • Try a full reset ?

      • Reset to factory settings start again if that doesn't work check your modem and reset that and if that doesn't work then ring or contact netgear support.
