Issues using JB Hi-Fi gift cards

I purchased $300 of JB Hifi vouchers from this deal. Went to the North Sydney JB Hifi store just before Christmas. Wanted to purchase 4 Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers. Was told by the assistant and (when I questioned it) by the manager that if I was paying with gift cards:

1) I couldn't get a price match for the controllers vs Big W (the controllers were $84 at Big W and $89 at JB)

2) If I was paying with gift cards I could only buy three Nintendo Switch controllers, and not four

I was told that "I'd already had a discount". That was true for some of my gift cards, but not all of them. They seem to be covered under their own policy "exclusions apply for cash back offers and store credits", but surely this is unfair for those who've been given a gift card as a…gift. Especially if they were purchased at full price.

Limiting me to purchasing three controllers with gift cards, though. That one seems strange.

Anyone else had this issue using gift cards at JB Hifi?

I've never heard of jbhifi restricting the usage of gift cards before, you should propably contact their corporate hq and complain.

Use those gift cards to buy real JB HiFI gift cards directly from them online. Shouldn’t be discriminated against then.

I did…! Had multiple smaller value 15% off gift cards that I used online to buy 3 x $100 JB gift cards to avoid in-store hassle. The manager didn’t even check my gift cards. He just asked if I was paying with gift cards, and then explained the strange rules I described. Still got the auto-discrimination treatment.

Sounds rubbish. Dob them in to JB corporate.

Absolute non sense, how you got the gift cards should not matter one bit. Get names, pen a complaint, you'll get a gift card for your troubles. Do it, seems like a rogue manager, if the instructions did come from the top, go on social media. Give them some bad PR.

Smells of BS. The only thing I see in that policy that could possibly apply is "items with restricted or limited supply".
Also, their policy for gift cards is very brief and says nothing about not being able to buy price-matched items or any other special exclusions.

If they have to make up BS excuses so that they don't lose money on gift cards, then they shouldn't allow them to be bought at a discount. They can't tell most of the time if it was discounted anyway.

Sorry mate, but that is garbage. It doesn't matter whether you got a discount on the cards, that is none of their business. Take it to head office and see what they have to say.

Buy three, leave. Return and buy one more. Weird rule though from JB, very unusual.

the staff there is a bit weird and i also got the same message when I tried to price match for the nikon d5600 camera deal and then also get my free $100 JB voucher in first week of December. They were not willing to price match stating I am also getting a $100 JB voucher.

So I just went to the store in the city who happily obliged.

U should have said loudy " are you restricting my use of gift cards like game or dick smith when they went to administration cause you are going broke cause of amazon, is jbhifi closing soon, omg I better use all my gift cards before you go into administration, I might have to call Tracey from aca, I have a scoop"

You definitely shouldn't have said this

Gift cards, despite some obvious limitations in such that they’re limited to the store in question, should be treated like cash, that you’re getting a discount has nothing to do with what you’re buying from the retailer, it’s an incentive to be locked in to purchasing from that specific retailer.

I def agree with everyone else, this sounds like complete BS and JB HiFi would surely not accept this as SOP.

I’d write a letter to HQ. Would prob help to say what you want to happen.
