Yay, glad I didn't buy it day one for 62, and instead waited the better part of a year to be able to buy it preowned and save a whole five bucks.

Wait, I did buy it day one for 62, well, guess I'm glad I did that then.

    • +1

The point is you can't get it now for 62… You could gave waiteda year to g3t it for 49 at amazon.

      • +2

Well, everyone these days has 5% off wish gift cards. The majority of people could get it for $65.55 at Big W.

Dungeoncrawl AUS version is $65+$2.50 shipping.

I wouldn't support EB at this price.

        Try ebay for pre-owned.

    • What about the people who just got a Switch (say, for Christmas) and want to build their library?

  • +1

I bought a pre-owned switch game from EB Games, faulty on arrival. Had no other option but to return and get a refund but had lost money on delivery.

    • Well you did have the option to get it replaced.

      • they had no replacement, they had no other pre-owned 1-2 switch

        • +8

Here he is ladies and gentlemen, the only person in the world to admit they bought 1-2 Switch!

        • @Jamiea: I purchased it. Only played it for about 30 minutes on launch day though..

        • +1

@Marrk: I'm glad i refunded i read it was only good for 30mins lol

        • @Jamiea: so, I'm assuming you don't have kids you need to entertain?

        • @jayzorz: Nah bud

    • wont nintendo australia give you a replacement under warranty?

      • I can't see any situation where Nintendo would be obliged to provide a warranty for a pre-owned purchase.

  • Would rather pay $70 with free shipping and buy it brand new from somewhere like Mighty Ape

I am sure the thrifty folk of Ozbargain can find it even cheaper elsewhere - e.g eBay with a 10% off coupon or Amazon?

was $50 (new) including free delivery a week ago on amazon, picked it up for free with my amazon giftcard from pricing error on those logitech speakers during amazon AU launch

    • yeah same here

    • $45 if you combined with 10% cashback on Amex. I was really happy that boxing day.

Would prefer a decent price on Zelda. Missed out on the Amazon deal :(

I'm all for cheap preowned games, particularly when they're a few years old and I've bought into the console ecosystem late in the cycle.

But, honestly, to save two bucks and completely deny the hard work of the creator ANY kind of income whatsoever, only to serve the completely anti-consumer, anti-industry practices of EB Games or similar - that's just not right (YMMV per publisher).

Wait for a proper deal on the game.

whats anti consumer about eb? no one is forcing you to shop there.

    • +1

deny the hard work of the creator ANY kind of income whatsoever

The original creator factors in the resale value of their creation into their RRP. The same way they do for books, DVDs, furniture, paintings, cars, caravans, the list goes on. Every time you buy a second hand item, you are justifying the price of the initial purchase.

Only to serve the completely anti-consumer, anti-industry practices

Examples? personally I think they are one of the best, as long as you aren't an idiot who trades in games 6 months after they buy them and complain about the faction of the price they are offered. If people want a better price or want cash, they can sell on Marketplace/Gumtree and deal with all the headaches involved.

      Here's my EB experience:
      - Full refund change of mind purchases (which they will sell as new to keep the return periods available to all customers, the same way other businesses do).
      - Hassle free trade ins compared to retail outlets that offer you cash where you need 100 points of ID and have to fill out paperwork.
      - Great prices in the larger sales.
      - Never have to bother with a receipt when I shop there, all on my rewards card (Unfortunately it's an overnight update.)
      - Best prices for rare last gen games. Steals to be had everywhere if you know what you are looking for.
      - Sell pre-owned Collectors editions at regular edition prices.
      - Stores almost everywhere, buy at one shop on holiday, return hassle free to your local store if you didn't like it.
      - Price matching is easy, just show the website of the Australian based competitor.
      - Far cheaper than JB when it comes to pre-owned and don't rely on high interest pay day loans like cash converters do to support their retail.
      - Easy to handle pre-order system.

I wish every store I go to was as consumer friendly and convenient as EB.

    • well if nintendo actually drops price on their old game then ppl might, dont know why launch games are still $70

  • +3

While waiting in EB during my lunch break 3 people came into the Swanston St store asking about this. Poor clerk had to keep telling people that any stock sells out in 10 minutes after it gets traded in.

Besides, who in their right mind trades in Mario kart?

  • I really want a Switch deal… Hopefully soon enough.

    • hopefully!

  • never find it anywhere
