for $399 from "Skycomp Technology" in NSW, although I tried their website and it wouldn't load. Best off checking staticice.com.au periodically. The next cheapest one was the MSY one you mentioned.
CPU can be second hand from ebay
no difference, unless faulty (hardly unless OC abused)
Why would you get a 7700K? You'll get basically the same performance from an i3 8350K for half the price of what you're willing to pay. If you really want to spend that much money, get an 8700K.
Except there's only Z series MBs available right now for 8th gen, meaning you can't save ~$100 by getting a H or B series MB like you normally might (if not interested in taking advantage of the K CPU's overclocking abilities). Plus, OP may already have other components, and just wants the top of the range CPU the MB they already have can handle.
@OP: as already established, there doesn't seem to be a better price than what you've already found/been given by others here. If you can get an ex-demo or open box version from a retailer with reasonable trust, go for it. Intel CPUs are rarely ever faulty unless existing damage already exists.

I have already bought him a new motherboard: AsRock Z270 Extreme4 Intel 7th Gen LGA1151 SLI CrossFire Motherboard. He (my son) wanted this one for whatever reason.
He already has 1 or 2 x 1080ti graphics cards. And has a few other bits and pieces.
There is also a i7 7700k CPU on ebay second hand which the seller says has been opened but never used, bids are at $405 with 1 day to go. I am a little skeptical about opened boxes (possible static damage etc), plus for about $40 more I can get a brand new from MSY store.
